About Smorgasbord - Variety is the Spice of Life.

My name is Sally Cronin and I am doing what I love.. Writing. Books, short stories, Haiku and blog posts. My previous jobs are only relevant in as much as they have gifted me with a wonderful filing cabinet of memories and experiences which are very useful when putting pen to paper. I move between non-fiction health books and posts and fairy stories, romance and humour. I love variety which is why I called my blog Smorgasbord Invitation and you will find a wide range of subjects. You can find the whole story here. 1. Thanks for sharing these. I will click through to the full story shortly. I really liked the tip about writing around your subject. That’s also useful while you are working on “the book”.
I also encourage writers to develop their public speaking skills. I go to quite a few writer’s talks and usually buy the book, although I don’t always read them. People are often looking for speakers for events etc.

      • As you would appreciate, I think it can be very difficult for writers to switch hats from writing to publicity. These seem to be quite different tasks to me. I have worked in marketing for years and have a natural sales personality but still struggle with the promotional side of things. I have been intending to turn my posts into articles and get an income but even switching gears that way, the writing gets in the way.
I’d also imagine that many writers aren’t as outgoing and this need to put yourself out there to sell your work is really daunting. xx Rowena
