Smorgasbord Blogger Daily – Thursday 12th January – Challenges, Herbs, Movies and Motivation

Smorgasbord Blogger Daily

One of the ways to get your writing noticed is to participate in #BlogChallenges there are a number of very good ones each week ranging from Haiku to 1000 word short stories. It is an productive way to network your talent but to also bring new faces to your blog.  Here is one of the most popular Challengers.. Sacha Black.

Your challenge is to write your story using the weekly theme/prompt and write it in just 52 words…. EXACTLY, no more, no less. Submit your entries in the comments or on a blog post and I post them the following week with the new prompt. You have until Sunday to enter. This week’s prompt is to write about the badly timed trump!!

Sacha also features last week’s entries which was prompted by the word Timer.

Another very popular weekly challenge is Ronovan Hester’s weekly #Haiku #Poetry prompt challenge.

The Guidelines are simple.

Take the two words and write a Haiku. I use Haiku in English as my style, which is 5 syllables for the first line, 7 for the second, and 5 for the third, but you can use what you like. The link above has links within it to articles about how to write Haibun, Tanka, and even a new form I created called Freku. You can also do the 3/5/3 form if you like instead of the 5/7/5 that I usually use. Write, share, and have fun. For syllable help visit HowManySyllables.com. (You would be surprised at how many syllables some words actually have.)

succulentsNow for something less challenging and a new blog to me.. The New Age Herbal by medical herbalist Denis Vujcic – those of you who are as interested in the older remedies will enjoy this blog I am sure, with its modern twist.

First off, know that it’s over… 2016 that is… but your probably realizing it has taken a toll on your face when you look in the mirror.

Where are your problem areas because if it happens to be around the eyes, we can start there. It’s always at least a kidney issue and then combined with asking too much of the stomach to deal with can create this negative downward spiral that digs deep in your face in the form of puffy eyes, deep bags under your eyes (all the way to your cheeks sometimes even), or dark circles that are blood and oxygen deficient liver eyes where the deficient liver is so deficient that the kidney now is affected causing dark circles below the eyes. There’s more where that came from and all of the above mentioned symptoms and patterns are unique that require specific and individual combinations of remedies/food and below are some generic easy tips to benefit the eye region. Your eye region sometimes is asking for help and healing to the point of other people saying things like “Have you looked in the mirror recently? You’re really stressed out and need to keep calm!”

You are probably aware that I love going to the movies and we are taking full advantage of the pensioner’s special at our cinema five minutes drive from the house… 5 Euro is not not bad each.. Anyway here is a blog, Movie Babble Reviews, that specialises in movie reviews and news and today’s post is for Hidden Figures which I only heard about last week.  I will definitely go and see when it hits our neck of the woods.

In an attempt to escape the typical sub-par movies we see in January, I had my fingers crossed that Hidden Figures would live up to the impressive 93% it currently holds on Rotten Tomatoes. The film had a few nominations at the Golden Globes, so I was hopeful to find some enjoyment out of this movie. The following review will be spoiler free. Be sure to comment at the bottom of the page with your own thoughts on the movie.

Hidden Figures is directed by Theodore Melfi and stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monae. The film depicts the untold story of Katherine G. Johnson (Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Spencer), and Mary Jackson (Monae), three African-American who were integral parts in the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit.

Finally today great news from Annette Rochelle Aben.. she has revealed the cover of her next book… and it is all about motivating us to go get it….Go You

I did it! Ordered that proof, like a boss!! Why? Because I have a new book about to be made available and I want to be certain that it is just right for YOU, the book reading public. Yeah, that’s just the way I roll.

So, what is this book, you say? It’s all about encouragement. Giving people a little something when they need it the most. In fact, it is based on and inspired by my daily Facebook posts that end in GO YOU! So, as we are always told to begin with the end in mind, I titled it GO YOU – some encouragement when you need it! (see what I did there?)
