About Smorgasbord - Variety is the Spice of Life.

My name is Sally Cronin and I am doing what I love.. Writing. Books, short stories, Haiku and blog posts. My previous jobs are only relevant in as much as they have gifted me with a wonderful filing cabinet of memories and experiences which are very useful when putting pen to paper. I move between non-fiction health books and posts and fairy stories, romance and humour. I love variety which is why I called my blog Smorgasbord Invitation and you will find a wide range of subjects. You can find the whole story here. 1. I think it is really generous to promote the work of others as you do on your blog. I have guest posted about 70 folks over the years. I select mostly artists, poets and other cartoonists and only a few book reviews. I do short ones on amazon for books I’ve read. Thanks for your recent visit to my blog. Right now I reading David Baldacci novels. I like Janet Evanovich too.

      • Oh yes, yes. Read about 10 Cornwell. As a history teacher I had great disdain for historical fiction until I read Jack Whyte’s Camulod Chronicles series, post Roman Britain. I mean it’s like the guy lived at the time period with these people from what he includes in the plot of daily living things. May fav historical fiction was Aztec, Gary Jennings, I think. I read every single Sherlock Holmes stories and novels and the 11 John Carter of Mars novels, Edgar Rice Burroughs by age 16.

      • 17 years ago when they were starting the DNA ancestory project at Oxford we submitted our DNA.. at that time mine was traced back to a woman’s bones dating back 20,000 years and my husband’s 17,000.. Things have moved on of course now so we are doing it again and with the new updates we should be able to see a much clearer picture of where we originated from and our migration path after the ice age. We already know that my husband’s rare blood group puts him up in Finland and the north men who raided Ireland.. it makes me even more fascinated with those years. Like you I spent a great time reading… often books off my father’s library stack that were a little above my pay grade.. I began buying Wilbur Smith at age 11 and still have those dog-eared first books right through to his latest.. books are precious.
