To get fit and to lose weight if needed.The reason that I chose the marathon as a measurement, is that it is a recognised gold standard for many athletes. Whilst they may complete their marathons in under three hours, with a record of 2hours 2 minutes, that is not our intention. Well not for the first marathon anyway.
