Guest Writer – Fantastic Realms 1: Genius Loci by Horatio Grin

Fantastic Realms 1: Genius Loci by Horatio GrinDuring the introduction in ‘Lost Beginnings of the Fairy Races’, I distinguished between the two types of fairies haunting popular imagination. The first were the fairy races of Chinese and Indo-European myth, who are described as essentially human but with extraordinary abilities. The second group I called nature spirits or elementals.I realise this is hardly an all-encompassing description given the number of preternatural entities occupying the astral planes surrounding the physical realm, but I needed to be quite firm due to the enormous diversity of such phantasmagorical creatures. Given the complex relationships between the plethora of beings occupying the ethereal, I feared being drawn into labyrinthine byways of definition and distinction, and losing the thrust of my argument all together.

About Smorgasbord - Variety is the Spice of Life.

My name is Sally Cronin and I am doing what I love.. Writing. Books, short stories, Haiku and blog posts. My previous jobs are only relevant in as much as they have gifted me with a wonderful filing cabinet of memories and experiences which are very useful when putting pen to paper. I move between non-fiction health books and posts and fairy stories, romance and humour. I love variety which is why I called my blog Smorgasbord Invitation and you will find a wide range of subjects. You can find the whole story here. I would be delighted to receive your feedback. Thanks Sally
