About Smorgasbord - Variety is the Spice of Life.

My name is Sally Cronin and I am doing what I love.. Writing. Books, short stories, Haiku and blog posts. My previous jobs are only relevant in as much as they have gifted me with a wonderful filing cabinet of memories and experiences which are very useful when putting pen to paper. I move between non-fiction health books and posts and fairy stories, romance and humour. I love variety which is why I called my blog Smorgasbord Invitation and you will find a wide range of subjects. You can find the whole story here. Find out more at

  1. Hello Sally – Thank you for showcasing Ernie.I do not get very many opportunities with him or Ethel. They keep to themselves. They live on Strawberry island.Their nest is on the NE corner. They are still taking care of their eaglet.Ernie must of just wanted to stretch his wings for a bit.

Years ago he was shot by some A-hole.He fell to the ground & was taken care of by Rod Palm & his young daughter Coral.Coral remembers wrapping him up in blankets to restrict movement during the night. When she got up in the morning,Ernie had gotten out of his blanket bandage & had crapped all over the place!
Eagles are generally shot for their feathers/talons.There is a big black market for ceremonial feathers.
