Smorgasbord Laughter Academy – The demon drink! With advice from Tina Frisco

It is Thanksgiving and if I am timing this right, many of you are about to start celebrating this very special day of the year.. Roast Turkey and all the trimmings, a few beers and perhaps a lovely bottle of wine.. or two…

Last year at the same time, Tina Frisco sent me the words of wisdom and I have also found some quips from the archives that illustrate the inadvisability of consuming too much of the amber nectar!

1image004A man wanted Valentine’s Day to be special, so he bought a bottle of absinthe and stopped by the florist’s to order a bouquet of his wife’s favorite flower: white anemones. Unfortunately, the florist was sold out of flowers and had only a few stems of feathery ferns. The man asked the florist to make a bouquet out of the ferns and the flask of liquor. He added a card and proceeded home. After a romantic candlelight dinner, he presented his wife with the gift. She opened the card to read, “Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder.” With a tear in her eye, she whispered to him lovingly, “Yes, and with fronds like these, who needs anemones.”

Stumbling onto the bus just as it was leaving the drunk staggered down the aisle, hit a passenger in the face with his elbow and knocked over a bag of shopping. He dropped into a seat next to a sour-faced woman who took one whiff of his beery breath and wagged her finger in his face.

“You, young man, are going straight to hell.”

He struggled to his feet, “don’t tell me I’m on the wrong bus again!”

The police were ordered to clean up the neighbourhood and their job was made easier when a drunk staggered up to a sergeant and said “Escuse me offisher, what time is it?”

The cop replied “One o’clock,” and hit him once over the head with his baton.

“Blimey,” said the drunk holding his head, “I’m glad I didn’t ask you an hour ago.”

After her husband has gone back to refill his drink for the fifth time at a host’s party, the wife looks at him and says, “Aren’t you embarrassed to keep going back for more?”

Husband says, “Nope. I Keep telling them it’s for you!”

And to finish off… for those with a romantic evening in mind..

Spiritually Moving and Uplifting on September 14, 2017

FIRST I must say that I loved this gentle little book. I devoured it in a single evening, so entranced by the story that I didn’t want to stop to read the inspiring quotes from Lynn V. Andrew’s Power Deck that began each chapter. Once I reached the end of the book I had to go back for the quotes, skimming each following chapter a second time.

NOW I must say that I have struggled with how I could possibly write a review — I’ve never read another book quite like it.

Other reviewers here have given you as much as you need to become familiar with the book’s “environment” – if I can call it that, introducing you to a few of the characters – so I won’t repeat similar content. But they can’t convey the deeply spiritual, uplifting essence of the book that, to me, is what makes it remarkable. Plateau never pontificates, but rather seduces the reader to come to his or her own spiritual realizations as the story unfolds.

I suppose the most impactful thing I can say is that I was infused with a sense of well-being when I finally put down my Kindle and turned off the light. I was in such a calm and totally relaxed positive state of mind that I transitioned easily and almost immediately into a deep sleep – a rare experience in my life.
