Smorgasbord Blog Magazine – Esme’s Party Piece – What may happen in the next two weeks!!!

I was looking for something to add a little mystery and colour to the blog, and whilst I have been known to read palms, the crystal ball and the cards (yes my mother claimed gypsy ancestry), I have never got to grips with astrology except as a spectator.

Then I remembered by old friend Esme.. not her real name but one I rather like…. who used to amuse and astound us, with her party piece of telling fortunes based on the characteristics of our zodiac sign. She had been interested in astrology from an early age but one day discovered a flair for interpreting the signs in a different way.

I approached her in the hopes that she might contribute to the blog by providing fortnightly posts with a forecast for each sign.. She agreed provided I did not use her real name (she is an eminent scientist) and that I crossed her palm with a couple of bottles of Cava from time to time.

She absolutely wishes this to be regarded as for fun purposes only and not to be taken too seriously, and that she will be happy to contribute again should this first post be enjoyed and commented on.

With all that in mind, I was fascinated to receive her forecast and check out some of our world leaders and their birth signs.. I was amazed to find out that President Donald Trump and our own quixotic Boris Johnson share the same sign.. Gemini –  and that Prime Minister Theresa May and President Vladimir Putin were both born under Libra.

Anyway… Esme would like to you note your forecast for the next couple of weeks and if you would like her to continue to contribute please leave a comment..

Here are her predictions based on your zodiac sign’s characteristics for 15th March to 29th March

Aries: March 21 – April 19

For those born under the sign of Aries this will be an especially exacting time at work with deadlines and ultimatums from above. However, the biggest problem that you have is your own expectations and standards. Don’t be so impatient, it will get done and in the meantime you need to get a life. You probably enjoy running, swimming or playing squash; so let off steam and enjoy a night out with good friends. And that person that you have meaning to ask out on a date! What are you waiting for?

Taurus: April 20 -May 20

You seem to be going through a time of uncharacteristic physical weakness which might be the result of a recent bout of flu or a cold. Because you are normally full of energy and stamina you are bull-headed when it comes to downtime. You also do not like to look weak to others, but step back for a few days, and surround yourself with things that bring you pleasure. You do like to buy new toys… treat yourself.

Gemini: May 21 – June 20

You have a quick mind and love to chat but do watch that your silver tongue does not get you into trouble in the next couple of weeks. You are no stranger to controversy, and at times you stir things up to get a reaction or because you are bored. Be careful what you wish for! Right now you need a serious challenge, so stop frittering your time on petty issues and find one that is worthy of your considerable mental abilities.

Cancer: June 21 – July 22

In the next two weeks you will experience a once in a lifetime connection that brings you closer to achieving a long held ambition. Two heads are better than one, especially when your instinctive grasp on life is complemented by someone who has a more analytical mind. Expect a surprise or two if you are working on your family history. Work towards providing yourself and your family the future you envisioned for them.

Leo: July 23 – August 22

Your friends love and admire you, but don’t push them too hard with your flair for the dramatic. You are charismatic and charming and used to your own way. But you are about to meet an immovable force who will stop you in your tracks. Hopefully in a good way, but if you are in a leadership role, you might want to remember that you are only as good as those working for you. On the bright side expect to receive a cash windfall. Don’t get too excited as the amount is yet to be determined.

Virgo: August 23 – September 22

You have been doing very well recently, and your aim to create a perfect environment is almost complete. The trouble with perfection is the flaws created in its attainment. I know that it is hard for you not to be over critical of those you live and work with, but do remember that Rome was not built in a day, and that some people may not be as detail orientated as you are. They will get there, and so will you, but cut yourself and them some slack.

Libra: September 23 – October 22

You are very aware of the world’s beauty, the arts with a love of music. For some reason in recent weeks you have felt disconnected from these things that normally bring you peace and happiness. There is perhaps something that you want to get off your chest but feel that it is not your place. My advice would be to refrain from saying something without weighing up the consequences, both good and bad, of your actions. If you really feel passionately about the issue, then you probably need to share it with someone you trust, so that you can return to the equilibrium that you prefer.

Scorpio: October 23 – November 21

Oh my goodness, when you are in the zone you can let people have it with both barrels, and sometimes with a cutting edge to your words. And on occasion that is totally warranted and produces the desired effect which is action. However, engage that clear-sighted and analytical mind of yours first, and you will overcome problems much easier and with more co-operation. This applies in your love life too. You have so much to offer especially if you don’t hold on too tight.

Sagittarius: November 22 – December 21

You are a fire sign with a passion for digging deep into everything around you. You are adaptable and versatile, changing direction on a dime. Those who love you know that you need that element of freedom, and they enjoy the excitement of being part of your world. There are times that you need to chill and go with the flow, and the next few weeks would be a good time to do so. You have been working non-stop since your birthday and for your own sake, and those around you, book a holiday or at least a few days away.

Capricorn: December 22 – January 19

It has been a long winter and whilst you always find something to keep yourself busy you are getting cabin fever. Normally active, being desk bound is not good for you and or for those close to you… You are a fixer and love to get into other people’s problems, especially if you feel that they have no plan of action. Perhaps you might just think about listening and letting them talk things out. They may not need a solution but encouragement to work it through for themselves. Tough for you I know, but treat it as a teaching moment, and a chance to guide them to the right answer rather than hand it to them.

Aquarius: January 20 – February 18

Nobody can put you in a box, which does cause some people to view you with caution. Passionate about anything that smacks of injustice you are currently on the warpath about a social issue. Do remember to breathe and to include others, even if they don’t appear to be so intense about the problem. You might get an unexpected offer in the next couple of weeks to join forces with someone you admire. You are not very good about being managed, but a joint partnership might achieve more than you can alone. At all times remember that you are blessed with a sense of humour and the life and soul of the party.

Pisces: February 19 – March 20

You of all the signs are the most likely to have been this way before. As a child you were old for your years and took responsibility and care of others as a duty. Now it is time for you to blossom and enjoy a freedom that you have not been accustomed to for a long time. The world is your oyster and adventure beckons. Don’t let money worries hold you back as there is so much to be enjoyed that is free within communities and a great opportunity to meet new people. Time to treat yourself as the priority.

  3. It is true that I am still recovering from a month-long cold/cough. And it is also true that I don’t like to take naps or go to bed/sleep in general. But I HAVE been taking naps the past few days AND I went to the library and took out four books to read over this past weekend (which is my parsimonious alternative to buying new toys). I am now looking forward to the next installment! Thank you for sharing Esme’s wisdom with all of us.

  4. Esme, this is terrific. How did you know so much about my husband’s personality and how he has been recently? This is really good, and lots of fun. Please, please continue. Thank you, Sally. You have great friends. 🙂

  6. I am a Pisces. I took the day off work yesterday to attend a literacy conference at a leading private school in Johannesburg and help to facilitate a workshop in my capacity as an author. I think that does fit into the forecast of time to treat yourself as a priority.
