I thought I would share this in the ‘just after midnight slot’ as Letter’s From America is now on a short break until a couple of weeks before Christmas, when my letters to my parents began again following their return to the UK at the end of November.
Unfortunately there was not the space or time to play all of the guest requests at the four meals over the weekend but I promised to do so during the week. Here were the missing tracks from Brunch. You can find more about these guests in more detail Sunday Lunch

Loved the Beatles, and the slow songs were always the absolute best…

I think the rock of the 60s did not necessarily let you enjoy the lyrics, something The Beatles were very good at.. even if I did not always get the meaning behind the words! hugsx

Scheherazade was the first, beautiful, classical record my husband and I bought after we married in 1953. We soon added more and spent many winter evenings in front of the fire, being transported! Thank you! Hugs. x

Thanks Sally for the feature. I only have to listen to ‘Scheherazade’ and I’m 10 years old again and sitting with my mum listening to Rimsky-Korsakov’s wonderful music. Every week she’d pick out another piece of classical music to burn into my brain. I’m glad to have had the experience though, as it broadened my musical horizons!

My pleasure Stevie and I think your mother did the right thing.. it was the big band sound in our house and it was not until I was in my teens that I was introduced to classical music.. I don’t have as wide an appreciation as I should hugs xx

I grew up listening to Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra, Mum’s favourites, and Shirley Bassey, Dad’s favourite. They hated my rock music!
