Delighted to share the news of the latest short story collection by Hugh W. Roberts. Following in the footsteps of his first popular release.. here is More Glimpses.
About More Glimpses
Do you believe in fairies at the bottom of the garden? Or know the real truth about what lurks inside every mobile phone? Would you steal items from a blind person, or send your neighbours on a time travelling adventure fraught with danger and menace to save the human race from a bug? How about staying in a sleepy village where many murders have taken place or coming to the aid of royalty while out shopping?
These are just some of the subjects covered in the second collection of short stories and flash fiction from author and writer, Hugh W. Roberts.
‘More Glimpses’ gives the reader an opportunity to take a peek into the lives of normal, everyday people whose lives are all on a path full of twists, turns and unexpected endings. However, it’s not only about the humans; nothing escapes the extraordinary journeys Hugh has planned for you. If you are a lover of shows such as ‘Black Mirror’ or ‘The Twilight Zone’ then you’re in for another exciting trip in this second collection from Hugh. Come and meet the characters who had no idea their lives were about to be turned upside-down. Enjoy the ride!
One of the early reviews for the book by Terri Webster Schrandt, Writer and Blogger.
“Hugh W. Roberts is back with More…Glimpses, that is! This is his second collection of short stories showcasing the dark and somewhat twisted mind of humankind. Roberts’ witty imagination, coupled with his love of stories from The Twilight Zone and Outer Limits, crafts 32 more tales of dark humour and hair-raising tales in a variety of genres, some a short read, others a little longer to get your heart racing! In every case, just when you think you’ve got the tale figured out, Roberts drops in a completely unexpected ending that may make you jump, laugh or even ponder your use of technology! The Tunnel, Baby Talk, Floral Hall and The Right Choice were my favourites!”

My name is Hugh. I live in the city of Swansea, South Wales, in the United Kingdom.
My blog covers a wide range of subjects, the most popular of which are my posts on blogging tips. I’ve learned a lot about the world of blogging since I first discovered it in February 2014. All of the tips and advice I give are free of charge and will cost you nothing apart from, maybe, your time. I have always enjoyed writing, and the fact I suffer from a mild form of dyslexia has not stopped me from enjoying the passion I have for writing. Yes, I get things wrong with my reading and writing, but I now always find those mistakes humorous and always laugh about it. I no longer allow dyslexia get in my way.
Now in my fifties, I thought it about time I let my writing become public. Becoming a blogger seemed to be the perfect way for me to do this. Blogging has put me in touch with hundreds of other writers, many of whom have been supportive and helped me with my writing.
I’m a member of the committee of the Bloggers Bash, a group set up to organise annual get-togethers for all bloggers. Held in London, we had our fourth event in May 2018. Click here to meet the bloggers and authors who attended the event.
I lead a happy life and always try to stay positive. I share my life with John, my wonderful civil partner, and our two Welsh Cardigan Corgis, Toby and Austin.

Hi Sally,
I know I have been distracted and not current, but I was surprised by this news of Hugh’s release of More Glimpses. He had spoken of it but I don’t recall an announcement of the release. In any case, I am excited for him and I look forward to reading it. Thank you for sharing this good news.

Thank you so much, Chuck. As Sally said, More Glimpses was only released on Monday 18th March, so still very early days. I’m just glad I finally got it out there because I’ve held back publishing it (for various reasons) for too long.
Hugs to you.

It’s great that Hugh’s second volume is out. If it’s as good as the first, it will be a hit. 🙂

Thank you, Norah. I do hope so. Some of the stories in it were inspired by the challenges over at the Carrot Ranch, although I was able to go over the word count. 😀

Sometimes our stories need a little more than the Carrot Ranch 99-word limit, but it’s a great discipline. 🙂

Just had to stop in and say two quick things: First, I love Hugh and tremendously enjoyed Glimpses “part 1.” I think I’ve even got it autographed, if I’m not mistaken. It’s cool to see he’s got a lot of horror in this edition; I feel like he excels in horror, SF, and humor, honestly. Thank you for featuring him, Sally. Secondly, I adore your blog/magazine’s name. It took me forever to come up with a blog name, which I’m still not totally enamored of, and what you’ve chosen sounds so well-tailored to a gathering space for people who are just generally very curious about many topics. Hoorah for that.

Thank you Leigh and I enjoyed Glimpses too and just embarking on More Glimpses and hope to review this weekend. I love his humour as well as his dark side and I am sure he will consolidate and grow his fan base with the sequel. So pleased you like the blog name.. I have scattered interests and this seemed to fit the bill.. best wishes Sally

Thank you so much, Leigh. I hope you’ll enjoy the stories in More Glimpses as much as you did in Glimpses. Horror and Sci-fi are my favourite genres to write, but I surprised myself in writing some Rom-Com for More Glimpses. In fact, if my editor had not challenged me to try writing some Rom-Com, some of the stories would never have existed.
My best wishes to you.

Amazing news about Hugh’s latest release, Sally. It’s so nice of you to spread the word. I’m looking forward to reading “More Glimpses” next month. I wonder whether I should read “Glimpses” first, though, as it’s been sitting in my Kindle folder for a while. I sure wish I had more time to read!

The good thing about the books Liesbet is that the stories can be read with a cup of tea or coffee and picked up and read when you have a few minutes to spare… I am reading More Glimpses at the moment.. and enjoying..hugsx

That’s what I was thinking as well. Mark and I have a month long house sit in April, so maybe I can manage a story a day when I drink my afternoon tea. 🙂 As long as I’m not distracted by emails and blogs!

I’ll leave it up to you whether you read ‘Glimpses ‘ first, Liesbet. Some of the stories across the books do follow a similar theme, but I hope they all bring a bit of a twist for the reader. I have my favourites from both books, but that would be telling.
I hope you enjoy reading them. And, like Sally said, you can pick the books up at any time and read a new story in one sitting. The longest story, ‘The Truth App’ may take a little longer to read. You’ll find that story in ‘Glimpses’ and will discover it covers a subject all of us here hold dear to our lives.
