The sea…A vast beautiful place…How much sea covers the earth???

Some scientists say we should call our planet ‘Water’ instead of ‘Earth’, since water covers about 71% of the planet’s surface. The area of the ocean surface is 1.40 x (10 to the power of 8) miles². (3.62 x (10 to the power of 8) km²). The area of the land surface is 5.75 x (10 to the power of 7) miles² (1.49 x (10 to the power of 8) km²). There is over 2.4 times as much water area than land area.

The standard golf ball used in the United States is a minimum of 1.68 in (4.26 cm) in diameter; the British ball is slightly smaller.
