Here is piglet by photographer Wayne Barnes of Tofino Photography.. what a wonderful way to end the day looking at these images. and the good news is that you can now buy Wayne’s photography and his friend’s Meron’s images from their new website.. stunning gifts for anyone.. https://www.gotofino.com/tofinogallery/
Peggy has a new cub this year,so I’m calling it Piglet III. Its her third cub. I do not know the sex but suspect another female? She was being shy. She was using Peggy’s body as a shield. She eventually came out from behind mum and than she promptly walked into the forest without saying so much as a polite goodbye. Such a short debut!
Such a little darling!
Thanks for sharing these, Sally!

once they get to know you and you them you understand. Your far more likely to be attacked by a fellow human or dog! In 40 years I have never met an aggressive bear.

I would have never known; thanks for the animal behavior lesson!

you grew up with dogs like most people I’m sure. When you approach a dog you do not know you can tell by the body language If you should pet it or not.
Same thing with a bear (without the petting of course). You hang around bears long enough you can tell If they are grumpy or friendly.

good point; I guess I don’t have the chance to hang around bears too often 🙂

Wayne’s photos are a joy to view on his blog, and so characteristic they are immediately recognizable elsewhere! He is a truely talented wildlife photographer. His eagle photos are stunningly beautiful, too.

Adorable. We have bears not that far away. So close to the Pyrennees, they do roam, especially in the winter if they get hungry. However, it is usually the sanglier (wild boars), foxes and wolves that come here. Nearby villages have had occasional wolf sightings in the past few years but I’m not aware of one in my own village. The other animals we are accustomed to. Having lived in and just outside some major cities in my time (including New York), there is nothing like being surrounded by nature.

I agree Lea.. I would take country and mountains if I could again.. seeing eagles soaring above you in the garden (probably eyeing me up for their next meal) was spectacular.. xx

Sally, you are spot-on. Imagine waking up in the morning and finding a baby owl who got seperated from his family… Its feathers were so silky and he didn’t seem afraid. We followed the instructions of the people from the predatory bird protecion group and the parents picked him up around 3:00 in the morning. They explained that there are many owl families in the trees just across the river so one never knows. xx

That is kind of you to say. I’ve decided to reblog it on one of my other blogs as owls seem to pop up in a variety of posts that I’ve encountered lately. x
