Smorgasbord Poetry – Colleen Chesebro’s weekly Tanka Challenge – #Butterfly Cinquain – Our Legacy by Sally Cronin

This week Colleen Chesebor Tuesday Poetry Challeng no 183 Themeprompt was selected by Pat R and was a very interesting way to approach the prompt.

“…In the world’s broad field of battle, In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle! Be a hero in the strife…”

OR

“…Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time…”

From:
A Psalm of Life

By American Poet, HENRY WADSWORTH LONGFELLOW

What The Heart Of The Young Man Said To The Psalmist

And here is my response.. a Butterfly Cinquain based on the stanza – Lives of great men all remind us….

Butterfly Cinquain – Our Legacy

Writers
seek to inspire
those of us not yet great
to leave behind a legacy
of worth.
Fame and fortune is not required
if we are remembered
for our acts of
kindness.
