Smorgasbord Coffee Time Haiku – #Lanzarote – Haiku – Mirador de Guinate by Sally Cronin

During the years we lived in Spain we made a point of exploring areas outside of the Madrid region. This included most of the coast from Cadiz in the south up to Barcelona and then along the French border and along the northern coastline to Portugal. We also flew out to Lanzarote for two weeks in 2000 and explored this windswept volcanic island.

One of the spectacular viewpoints in the north of the island is Mirador de Guinate which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and the Chinijo Archipelago. Below the Volcan de la Corona  there is rich and fertile soil created over thousands of years by ash from the eruptions.

Here are a few more photos from that trip.

The atrium of our hotel.

One of the caves open to tourists.

We went out of season in September which was quieter but weather is also more variable.. great place to visit though with plenty to do and see for all the family.

I hope you have enjoyed this brief tour… thanks for joining me… Sally.
