About the book

Halloween is just around the corner and the goblins are out in force in Juniper Junction. A crotchety merchant, a malicious next-door neighbor, and some ghoulish trick-or-treaters are causing hair-raising problems for Lilly Carlsen’s boyfriend, Hassan Ashraf, and things are about to get much worse.

When Hassan finds himself at the center of a police investigation following the deaths of two of his tormentors just days apart, Lilly is ready to help in any way she can to bring the real fiends to justice.

But with Lilly’s daughter having trouble adjusting to college, her mother continuing a downward spiral into dementia, and possible romantic strife on the horizon between Lilly’s brother and her best friend, Lilly’s Halloween is beginning to look especially frightful.

One of the recent reviews for Cape Menace.

j777 5.0 out of 5 stars A Must For Fans of Cape May! Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2020

My wife and I both enjoyed Amy Reade’s “Cape Menace”. A well-written historical murder mystery set in Town Bank during the early part of the 18th century. Mrs. Reade does an amazing job weaving the history of the peninsula around the murder of a medicine man’s wife. The writing is top-notch and the story is fascinating. With a nod to Agatha Christie, we were kept in suspense as to who the killer was right up to the very end! Really looking forward to the next book in this series.

Maggie’s life changes in a way she could never imagine when the pesky new neighbors steal her heart. With Maggie’s grown son away, her ex-husband in the shadows, her meddling mother’s unannounced visits, and Chloe McIntyre on her heels, somehow Maggie’s empty house becomes home again.

molly doerr 5.0 out of 5 stars Comfort food between the pages.  Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2020

A wonderful summer or winter read on the couch or in the sun. As a cancer survivor that part rang true and was a nice counterpoint to the relationships growing or resolving with ex husband, child, love interest, mother & boyfriend’s ex wife. Nicely paced with observations to ponder and a budding romance to enjoy.

The final author today is Iain Kelly with a recent review for A Justified State

About the book

A Justified State opens with a bang and sets the story off to a great start. Danny is a detective assigned to solve the murder of a city consul on New Years Eve.

We follow Danny and a mercenary, Gabriella, on opposite sides of the law trying to unravel a conspiracy that will rock the political landscape forever.

Iain Kelly does a tremendous job at setting the tone and building the world around Danny and Gabriella. The concepts and ideas feel original and it sucks you into their world and political landscape. The characters are well developed and contrasted with each having something different to add.

A very enjoyable read and a writing style I could get behind (which I don’t say likely) which compelled me to keep reading.

  1. Ghouls night out sounds a great read preparing the mood for Halloween. The “State Trilogy” i have to begin reading very soon. Its so priceless for these day. At least “Maggie’s Way” should be a read in honor to all our teacher, starting again with the “little” or bigger monsters, this week. 😉
Thank you Sally! Best wishes, Michael
