Delighted to welcome Tyler Edwards to the Cafe and Bookstore with his books and today I am featuring his latest release the dystopian, science fiction novel The Outlands
About the book
In the ruins of the world that was lies the city of Dios, a haven protected from the hostile environment known as The Outlands. Ruled by an oppressive Patriarch, the people of Dios are conditioned in fear. The smallest infraction could result in banishment to the Outlands, a fate worse than death.
With his make-shift family of “Undesirables”, Jett Lasting struggles to find his place in a world where drawing attention to yourself can get you killed. His very existence is considered a crime. To survive, he must avoid guards, beggar gangs, and an ever-growing tension that could drag the whole city into chaos.
Jett unwittingly becomes entwined in a plot to overthrow the government where his choices could lead to freedom or the death of everyone he’s ever known or cared about.
One of the recent reviews for the book
Using rich characterization to draw us into the world of the Undesirable and the varied other classes with which they compete, causes the reader to immediately choose sides. If you savor richly detailed post apocalyptic worlds trying to forge their way, you’re in for a treat. This series debut is a page-turner that will no doubt leave readers eager for future series installments. The twists and turns of the story will leave you tired and breathless. Mr. Edwards has built a very imaginative and fresh storyline with suspense and intrigue at every turn. I cannot wait to find what our young band of friends encounter as they are forced to make their way in The Outlands. Be sure to secure your copy soon!!

Thanks Debby, I hope so. Can’t start a series if the first book is no good. :-p Dystopian stories can be lots of fun when they come together right.

Here’s to hoping everyone ignores the old adage about not judging a book by its cover. I wish I could take credit for the cover but my artistic skills are limited to….that’s the whole list. Hopefully the book is a good as the cover.

If only I could take credit for the cover. My stick figures look like nobles during the French revolution… it’s not pretty. But, if you are a dystopian reader, I would REALLY love to hear your thoughts on how it stacks up if you get a chance to read it. So many great books in the genre, would love to hear what you think to make my (hopeful) book 2 better.
