Delighted to share the news of the new poetry collection on pre-order for 26th February Lockdown Innit: Poems About Absurdity by M.J. Mallon
About the collection
Lockdown Innit is a poetry collection of eighteen poems about life’s absurdities and frustrations during lockdown. Wherever you live in this world, this is for you. Expect humour, a dollop of banter and ridiculous rants here and there. Amongst other delights, witness the strange antics of a swan posing by a bin and two statuesque horses appearing like arc deco pieces in a field. Check out the violin player on a tightrope, or the cheeky unmentionables wafting in the lockdown breeze!

One of the recent reviews for Mr. Sagittarius
“Mr. Sagittarius” is a wonderful collection of poetry, prose, and pictures weaved into a magical story. The book focuses on three older siblings. The male twins have developed a special relationship, making their sister feeling left out. When one twin passes, that leaves the brother and sister to grieve. The stories have powerful images that move the narrative along and sometimes veer off into the unknown for a quick visit. We are led through picturesque scenery and whimsical moments, which include an unusual bubble bath, a rainbow hat, and an ice cave. The poetry was beautiful and powerful, and the photos captured nature brilliantly. A quick read that I found relaxing and endearing. A perfect escape in unsettled times that I recommend.

About M.J. Mallon
I am an author who has been blogging for many moons: M.J. Mallon. My interests include writing, photography, poetry, and alternative therapies. I write Fantasy YA, and middle grade fiction as well as micropoetry – haiku and tanka. I love to read and have written over 100 Book Reviews
My alter ego is MJ – Mary Jane from Spiderman. I love superheros! I was born on the 17th of November in Lion City: Singapore, (a passionate Scorpio, with the Chinese Zodiac sign a lucky rabbit. I grew up in a mountainous court in the Peak District in Hong Kong.
As a teenager I travelled to many far-flung destinations. It’s rumoured that I now live in the Venice of Cambridge, with my six foot hunk of a Rock God husband, and my two enchanted daughters.
When I’m not writing, I eat exotic delicacies while belly dancing, or surf to the far reaches of the moon. To chill out, I practise Tai Chi. If the mood takes me I snorkel with mermaids, or sign up for idyllic holidays with the Chinese Unicorn, whose magnificent voice sings like a thousand wind chimes.

Thank you Pete. Trying to find some light in a difficult time to hopefully cheer us all up. There are some more serious topics dealt with in an absurd and thoughtful manner to relate to.

I find the absurdities of life to be some of the things that make me laugh the most. For example, yesterday, I spent two hours on hold trying to talk to my cable company. You can’t just go in and get help from the local company. I wasn’t doing too much laughing yesterday, but that’s pretty absurd.

Yes it’s important to find something to laugh about in these strange times. I must admit I’m doing some absurd things at work too. Safeguarding online classes… is so bizarre when so.sometimes all you can see is the kids hair. I wear they position their cameras in such a way that they are obscured! And some of their backgrounds are so odd or they seem to fade in and out of view in the most extraordinary way!

Yes, it has had a very bad effect on people. I’ve noticed there are a lot of people dying of heart attacks and other non-covid related issues at the moment. I think these conditions are caused by stress and the abnormal working conditions.

I agree Robbie and also people not being able to see a doctor in a timely fashion or at least face to face.. video diagnosis is not always reliable. Hopefully the vaccination roll out will get us part way there later in the year. xx
