Smorgasbord Posts from My Archives – Past Book Reviews 2020 – #Fantasy #Paranormal – Viral Blues by C.S. Boyack

I read some amazing books in 2020 and I would like to share them again with you, updated with the authors most recent releases and their biography.

Today I am sharing my review from May 2020 for Viral Blues (The Hat Book 2) by C.S. Boyack

About the book

Someone knows about the hat. The creature from another dimension that helps Lizzie fight against the creatures of darkness.

They are summoned to a cryptic meeting with a secret society, where they meet other people with enhanced skills. It turns out someone, or something, has been tampering with the world’s vaccine supply. The goal doesn’t appear to be political or financial, but biblical pestilence.

Can this group of loners come together in time to make a difference when even the proper authorities are obstacles?

Check out Viral Blues, for your dose of paranormal adventure, with a strong sample of dark humor. And in recent superhero style, don’t miss the secret last chapter after the back material.

My review from May 23rd 2020 for Viral Blues

Having read and enjoyed The Hat, I was looking forward to meeting the crime fighting duo of Lizzie and the Hat again in Viral Blues. And I was not disappointed, and in fact in this book, you get a great many superheroes for your money, with characters drawn from other books by C.S. Boyack.

Lisa Burton is well known as the interviewer of authors on Boyack’s website and her voluptuous figure is present on social media. Sartorially elegant this AI enhanced member of the team can gain access to any system, backing up Clovis and his dog, the smokey Jason, blunderbuss carrying Gina, supernatural Justine and Lizzie and her hat.

There are zombies and other worldly combatants which makes for some action packed encounters as the crime fighters attempt to find the blonde devilish lynch – pin fulfilling the 16th century prophesies of birds falling from the sky and pestilence. In a race against time to save people from the infected vaccines they stay one step ahead of the authorities who have little idea of the paranormal force they are up against.

Brilliant characters and superpowers, a stroke of genius to add the dog into the mix to enhance the dry humour running through the plot. A very satisfactory conclusion to the story, but clearly the door left open for more adventures to come.

At the end of the book, the author provides a background to the characters and their previous appearances and an epilogue that ties up a couple of loose ends.

If you love supernatural action adventures I am sure you will enjoy this book.

I was born in a town called Elko, Nevada. I like to tell everyone I was born in a small town in the 1940s. I’m not quite that old, but Elko has always been a little behind the times. This gives me a unique perspective of earlier times, and other ways of getting by. Some of this bleeds through into my fiction.

I moved to Idaho right after the turn of the century, and never looked back. My writing career was born here, with access to other writers and critique groups I jumped in with both feet.

I like to write about things that have something unusual. My works are in the realm of science fiction, paranormal, and fantasy. The goal is to entertain you for a few hours. I hope you enjoy the ride.

Thanks for dropping in today and I hope you have enjoyed my review for Craig’s book and will head over to read more about his work.. thanks Sally.

  1. I enjoyed your review of Viral Blues, Sally, and having read it, I can say you did a great job of highlighting this marvelous adventure story. But you and I both know there are many more fabulous parts that await readers, and how lucky they are. I am a big fan of Lisa the Robot, and The Hat too, and have enjoyed many of Craig’s well-written stories with their fast-moving plots and extremely creative characters. Many thanks to you and Craig.
