  1. I had the singular pleasure of atte4nding Boogie Woogie Night in Marshall Texas, where some of the best boogie-woogie pianists in the world perform. This sound originated in that area of the US, a completely African American art form, based on the sound of trains. The heavy left hand mimics the rumble of steam locomotives on iron rails, while the right plays melodic cross-rhythms that whistled up and down the tracks. Listen carefully and you can hear the locomotives!
