This week in Colleen Chesebro’s #Tanka Tuesday Challenge 217 – theme prompt – Merril D. Smith from last month’s challenge selected the theme of…Immortality…I have written three etherees to share my thoughts..
Etherees – Immortality
We
humans
strive through life
to create our
immortality
seeking to leave behind
not just fleeting memories
but a permanent reminder
that we existed, loved and were loved
by those near and dear who shared our journey
A
child’s smile
or their eyes
serve to remind
through generations
the genes reflecting traits
of forebears long departed
or immortalised in albums
lovingly curated as years pass
to share the magic of a life well lived.
For
writers
it is hoped
that words written
and shared with the world
will reflect our natures
thoughts and imaginations
igniting creativity
in those that read them and if lucky
our names will be etched on their memories.

Well said, Sally. It was once said that as long as someone remembers a person, that person has immortality.

Lovely. Well done you, Sally. It is said that we all leave a certain energy behind. What joy to leave behind meaningful words too! Two dear, male friends who died – one prematurely – had the’ gift of the gab’ and they flit into my mind now and then and I remember them with a smile. Hugs xx

Sally, I love this triad of Etheree poetry! You know, my immediate thought was how our writing was a form of immortality… I think you were the only one to share that vein of thought. ❤

Thanks Colleen.. it is about all I do have to leave behind that is tangible. I would love to think that in 50 years time someone will read one of my books and check to see if they can find anything out about me…♥♥
