Smorgasbord Blogger Daily – Monday 19th April 2021 – #Smoking Arthur Rosch, #Romance Linda Lee Greene, #Reviews James J. Cudney, #Award Grammy’s Grid, #offer J.Q. Rose

A small selection of posts I have enjoyed over the last few days and I hope you will head over to read in full. Also I received a couple of lovely surprises over the weekend…..more at the end of the post.

The first post is from Arthur Rosch as a guest on Writing to be Read with Kaye Lynne Booth… on the subject of returning to smoking after an abstinence of 17 years.. and there was certainly some provocation that prompted it..

Mind Fields – Why I Started Smoking Again

After seventeen years of tobacco-free life, I started smoking again.

(Long pause)

Goddammit!

I hate it when I do something SO stupid there’s no excuse for it, SO asinine that the only way to absolve myself is to take a spanking by bending over and backing up into a wall really really fast.

In 2001 after huge exertion, I quit a three pack-a-day habit. I am not a cold turkey type of person. I’m more like a warmed over chicken type of person. I have to do things in steps.

To quit smoking I used nicotine gum and the patch. In two months I was down to half a pack a day. I know, you’re not supposed to smoke and wear the patch. Tough. I did. Then I made a big jump. I went to a mere two cigarettes a day. I managed my craving by hiding cigarettes in plastic bags on the side of the road. I smoked them on my way to and from work. On Monday morning I bought a pack and spilled sixteen cigarettes into the trash. As I drove the rural twisting road to work I smoked my first cigarette. Then I paused at my secret stash place, took a baggie from my pocket and deposited the remaining three cigarettes under a bush. On the way back from work I stopped again and smoked the second cigarette..

The second post is from Linda Lee Greene of In Good Company and along with spring and better weather a touch of romance.. much needed.

My Photo

It is my absolute delight to welcome author Sloane Taylor to my blog today. A master in the kitchen and on the written page, this self-proclaimed romantic reminds us of just how easy it is to create amorous settings with our special someone on the patio or deck surrounded by gardens that are at their peak. She even includes a menu of the perfect meal for the occasion, as well as the link to her latest cookbook. I invite you to stop by and say hello to Sloane. –Linda Lee Greene, Author/Artist

Romance Meets Outside Dining – Sloane Taylor, Award-winning Romance and Cookbook Author

Spring is an amazing time of year and my favorite because that’s when the Earth comes alive. All sorts of beautiful things happen. Trees are budding, tender plants push through the ground, romance is in the air and warm weather is just a few weeks away.

I am a romantic through and through. Always have been and with any luck I always will be. Romance is much more than a quick trip to tangle the sheets. It is about being with someone you love and doing little things to show them how much they mean to you. In my case I cook because I love it.

It’s the 15th week of book reviews for the new year and I finished reading three novels this week. They couldn’t be any different either. Before we get into today’s authors and books, let’s recap with a brief background and status update. I’ve finished a total of 52 out of 156 books in my 2021 Goodreads Challenge, which is about 33% complete and about 7 books ahead of schedule.
