Smorgasbord Cafe and Bookstore – Meet the Authors 2021 – #Romance #Adventure Staci Troilo, #Jazz Sammy Stein, #Historic #Thriller K. Lewis Adair

Since the last series of meet the authors in June last year many new authors have joined the Cafe and Bookstore. This is an opportunity to get to know them and their books a little better. I will also include their blog social media links and it would be great if you could follow them there too.

Meet Staci Troilo

Staci Troilo grew up in Western Pennsylvania writing stories and poetry in her free time, so it was no surprise that she studied writing in college. After receiving creative and professional writing degrees from Carnegie Mellon University, she went on to get her Master’s Degree in Professional Writing, and she worked in corporate communications until she had her children. When they had grown, she went on to become a writing professor, and now she is a freelance writer and editor.

Staci is a multi-genre author. Her fiction is character-driven, and despite their protests, she loves to put them in all kinds of compromising or dangerous situations.

One of the reviews for the The Medici Protectorate series of four books

D.L. Finn 5.0 out of 5 stars Well-written steamy romantic-adventure!  Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2019

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the Medici Series. “Tortured Soul” is the finale, and I was sad to see it come to an end. This book’s focus was on the final Brother, Coz, and Notaro sister, Toni, and their connection. The relationship felt very real with their baggage, especially Toni’s self-image issues. Watching the couple navigate from what was expected of them, to what they felt was intriguing. I enjoyed Coz’s development as his unique power revealed itself. The history and Italian culture mixed in with the action and romance made it hard to put down. This is a well-written steamy romantic-adventure that I suggest you read from the beginning, to fully enjoy the outcome. I highly recommend this book and series. I look forward to more from this author.

Meet Sammy Stein

Jazz critic and columnist, one of UK’ S ‘go-to’ authors. Jazz festival curator, radio shows. The writer of series for radio and playlists, many people have enjoyed Sammy’s entertaining and diverse verbal blogs and guest appearances on shows, as well as her Women In Jazz series or shows and articles. . Music is this author’s passion, especially jazz and bringing lesser-known acts who deserve attention to the public arena. Sammy has had 5 books published and many superb reviews, including 2 Jazz Times awards.

Musicians comment on Sammy’s approachability and honesty in her reviews and writing. Her book include ‘Women In Jazz ( 8th House), In Their Own Words ( 8th House) and All That’s Jazz ( Tomahawk) and her passion for music is clear. One commentator said ‘the jazz jumps off the page’ and another ‘she gives clear facts yet does not try to force the reader’s opinion, the depth of research is incredible’. Researchers like working with Sammy, as do many musicians and she is a highly respected author.

One of the recent reviews for Pause, Play, Repeat

Charlotte Cosgrove 5.0 out of 5 stars A must read!  Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 April 2021

Everyone has been affected by the pandemic in one way or another, the arts and events have been especially affected and it was so interesting to hear first hand about how Covid-19 has affected the music industry and those involved in it. The book is described as including “candid, honest and in-depth” interviews and I feel the book captures just that, the passion these artists have to continue is inspiring and truly shows their resilience in an unstable economy.

Meet K. Lewis Adair

K. Lewis Adair now lives in the South West of England. Having studied Archaeology and History she has a pull to Pre-Romano/British and Anglo-Saxon History.

This love of history revolves around studying how our ancestors lived. How they interacted with each other and how they might guide us to this day.

Using detailed investigation into her genealogical past, questions arose within her.

Questions that led her to consider; who we are and where do we ‘spiritually’ come from, why are we pulled to the people we love, and have we actually really been here before?
She has currently published a historically based suspense thriller, called The Windmill, centering around these deep spiritual thoughts.

The second novel in the series is taking shape. Follow her blogs for updates.

 K. Lewis Adair is the author of The Windmill.

Drew  5.0 out of 5 stars A real page turner…wants you wanting more  Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 February 2021

Well, that was a different read…and for good reasons. Was a real page turner and has left me thinking about what happens to our love when we pass, what might draw us to our partners and how we may sacrifice everything for love. This book has a lot of characters to engage with that at first seem distant from each other. However, the concept of connections pervades and the main character, Ginny, starts a voyage of discovery to link these connections and discover why she might have been left a house. What she finds is so much more…with more to come I suspect. It’s about friends, loves and tragedy. Set in three parts, the changes in time are marked on the chapter titles to help you keep on track with the fast-paced movements. I was interested in the use of historical information to drive the plot and engage with the characters. And I even found out some new things.

All in all, I’d recommend this book to anyone that wants to delve into a story and the subjects of who we meet, befriend and fall in love with during our lives. The Windmill is not a linear read in any sense, this makes it interesting and different for that. Twists and turns and clues, easy to miss if you skim through, help us the reader and the characters discover some of the answers.

A well-constructed book of substance, some moving sections with depth that will make you think and want more after you’ve finished.
