William Price King is an American jazz singer, crooner, and composer.
His interest in music began at an early age when he studied piano and clarinet in high school. At Morehouse College in Atlanta where he grew up, he sang in the Glee Club and studied classical music. After graduation he went off to the Yale School of Music where he earned a Masters degree. From there he journeyed to New York where he created a jazz trio ‘Au Naturel’ which performed in some of the hottest venues in Manhattan including gigs on Broadway and the famous ‘Rainbow Room.’ These gigs opened doors for performances in Montreal and a European tour.
While touring Europe he met a lovely French lady, Jeanne Maïstre, who, a year later became his wife. King left the group ‘Au Naturel’ and settled in the south of France where he started a new life on the French Riviera, opening his own music school – the “Price King Ecole Internationale de Chant.” He has had the pleasure over the years of seeing many of his students excel as singers on a professional level, and some going on to become national celebrities. He continues to coach young singers today, in his spare time.

Next week 1975 Part One. We hope you will tune in.. as always we love to hear from you.. thanks William and Sally.
I remember all of these. I was particuarly enamoured of “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.” CHOM FM out of Montreal was the only radio station in our area that played it. Listening to CHOM was always unpredictable. The DJs were prone to just wandering off. (I don’t know if the wandering was mental or physical.) There was one such episode that left 20 minutes of dead air time. (Where the heck did he go??? Is he coming back???)

Lol.. clearly before the days of the automatic cut in which used to take over after 15 seconds of dead time when I was a DJ ..this was a problem if one was prone to reflective pauses lol.. I got caught out a couple of times when dashing out of the studio when alone in there on a Sunday Morning doing a 3 hour live show and dashing down the stairs to the ladies and back up again during a song! Glad you enjoyed…xx

Lots of great ones to choose from. I think Piano Man was the first time I heard Billy Joel, and I was hooked. Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me is one of Elton’s best, and that is saying something considering all the hits he had.

Thank you Pete and I am a Billy Joel fan and whilst I love his more upbeat tracks it is his slow and melodic songs that I enjoy the most… xx

Thanks Carol.. there was so much good music at the time and tough to select just four. We try to balance the genres out a bit but from the audience reaction most are hitting the spot.. hugsx

Recall all these. The Hollies are my favourite, not an Elton fan. Hues corp were a good act, wonder what happened to them. Billy Joel is not my cup of tea, but these are all talented artists and enjoyed by milions. Thanks for the memories.

Thanks very much Jane.. I checked on Hues Corp.. the original members appear to have disbanded and new band reformed in the 90s but clearly did not hit the mainstream.. ♥

It happens a lot, too crowded in some genres. Marketing – that ugly word – is often withdrawn when an act does not perform with first single/album or follow up and then they may get dropped quietly. Disbanding often happens too. Shame, great sound.

Tough then as it is now with all the books flooding the market.. so many great bands trying to get air time.. xxx

Indeed, it has never been easy for musicians and it does sort the wheat from the chaff too. It is a business, a hard one, So many books too. Looking inside libraries and book stores, you have to wonder if there will come a time when everything to be said has been said and that is it! I do not really think so, always new people learning to read. Where will writing and reading be in 100 years? There’s a thought.

I think the love of storytelling will survive particularly if colourful and well-written children’s books keep igniting the imagination of new generations. In what format it will be I am not sure but certainly whether audio or text books, mobile devices or even implanted devices are likely…Even in our lifetime there have been so many amazing advances in this field..hugs ♥

I am sure you are right. implants. Gosh, I saw a programme on robotics and cyborgs and they predict in 20-50 years we will have some sort of implant. We already have prosthetics and so forth.

LOL any food come to think of it. Nothing tastes the same as it used to. I think it is jut as well they don’t create the naughty stuff – eating, writing, sitting, eating, writing, sitting…oops!
