Smorgasbord Blogger Weekly – December 10th 2021 – #familyparties Jim Borden, #Newblog D.G. Kaye, #Cookies Staci Troilo, #Interview Mae Clair, #Christmas Debbie the Doglady

A small selection of posts I have enjoyed in the last few days and I hope you will head over to enjoy in full.. thanks Sally.

The first post is from Jim Borden with some sobering statistics about family gatherings and office parties… lol… compiled by a company with a hidden agenda….great fun.

Despite Survey Results, Families Still Gather During the Holidays

Ritual Zero Proof recently sponsored a survey of 2,000 Americans over the age of 21 regarding family gatherings during the holidays. The results are “sobering”:

  • 60 percent dread going to such gatherings.
  • 63 percent agree that there’s always one family member who takes things too far when it comes to “indulging” during the holidays.
  • 58 percent agree that their entire family drinks too much at holiday gatherings.

Next a welcome to a new blog from one one of our favourite bloggers, Debby Gies as she comes back to WordPress. com after nine years being self-hosted.

I’m Back with my New #Blog

It’s been quite an event! I’m sure many of you know, I’ve moved my blog. Some of you probably don’t know and may be wondering why my blog has been wonky for the last week or so.

I have been wanting to move away from my self-hosted blog for a long time, but dreaded the process – and I wasn’t wrong. Besides the fact that I’d get lots of messages throughout the last few years that readers were having a difficult time commenting on my blog, I’ve had so many issues myself with my old host.

Now a shout out to all of you who will be baking cookies for the holidays with an invitation from author Staci Troilo.

Virtual Cookie Exchange

Ciao, amici! Are you in the holiday spirit yet? I am. My daughter and her husband are coming home for Christmas, and I can’t wait to see them. Of course I’m making all her favorites (especially since she’s eating for two this year), so I started my baking a bit early.

I wish I had thought of this sooner, but I’m going to throw the idea out to you and see if you’re interested.

As I’m baking this weekend, I’m going to take photos of the steps as I go, then (of course) I’ll take a picture of the final product. Next Thursday, December 16, I will post on my blog the recipe and photos. If you’d like to join in, leave a comment below. On Thursday, you post your recipe and photos on your site. Message me the link in advance so I can have a master page with links to all our posts.

Next a lovely interview with author Mae Clair on the blog of Rox Burkey… I am sure you will enjoy.

Writing with Heart – Mae Clair

I find it delightful to learn about authors. Everything from their published books to blogs to struggles and successes, their journey is unique. I try to have my own ideas and thoughts and respect the individuality in the people who cross my path. Today my visitor is best-selling author Mae Clair.

Mae is a new author for me. Read anything of hers and you’ll recognize her writing is an investment in fun, heartthrob, and chills. The best-selling moniker is a well-earned title, and to think she started at six. Wow.

Thank you, Mae for taking time to visit today and opening up the covers of the real you—sharing between the lines. Let’s begin with you sharing some of your background in life that launched your writing journey.

Award Winning Mae Clair

Rox, thank you so much for inviting me to be on your blog. I’m delighted to be here! My writing journey started in grade school, so it’s been a lifelong adventure. I never had a time where I stopped writing for a few years, then picked it up again. I can honestly say I’ve been crafting stories non-stop since childhood.

Now for a festive post to get us all in the mood, courtesy of Debbie the Doglady.

Winter is my least favourite time of year (fortunately, we live in southern Canada, so it’s not as bad as most of the country). Despite that, I always look forward to December and all the trimmings of the holiday season. One thing I can’t get my head around is the “new age” decorating style.

Pink? Purple??? What????? Please!
