Your Hosts for The Breakfast Show

William Price King is an American jazz singer, crooner, and composer.

His interest in music began at an early age when he studied piano and clarinet in high school. At Morehouse College in Atlanta where he grew up, he sang in the Glee Club and studied classical music. After graduation he went off to the Yale School of Music where he earned a Masters degree. From there he journeyed to New York where he created a jazz trio ‘Au Naturel’ which performed in some of the hottest venues in Manhattan including gigs on Broadway and the famous ‘Rainbow Room.’ These gigs opened doors for performances in Montreal and a European tour.

While touring Europe he met a lovely French lady, Jeanne Maïstre, who, a year later became his wife. King left the group ‘Au Naturel’ and settled in the south of France where he started a new life on the French Riviera, opening his own music school – the “Price King Ecole Internationale de Chant.” He has had the pleasure over the years of seeing many of his students excel as singers on a professional level, and some going on to become national celebrities. He continues to coach young singers today, in his spare time.

  1. Very memorable tunes this week, William and Sally. Santana always makes me think of my father, as he was a big fan. Stay well and I hope William has a good break.

  3. Santana – since Woodstock – awesome musicians. Love them. Destinys Child followed us around America on tour one summer, every radio station played them, and so many summer festivals where they performed were awesome. I cannot stand U2, to me they are grossly over-rated, but that is my opinion and they have hoards of fans so what do I know. Thanks for the memories both. xx

  4. “Smooth” by Santana takes me back to Woodstock, the same wonderful music. “Who Let the Dogs Out” is , and will always be, a staple of humor. Thank you Sally and William.

  5. I so enjoy these posts. I didn’t know Beyonce (the world’s richest woman now) when she was part of Destiny’s Child so that song was new. Loved Santana though – such a great song for our heat wave!

  6. Wonderful memoires of the past. How fast all these years have passed. Terrible, but good to have the music preserved forever. Thanks for another great songs, bringing this time back in mind. Best wishes to you, Sally and William! xx Michael

  7. “Smooth” is one of my all-time favorites and the first song on my treadmill playlist. In fact, every single track on Santana’s Supernatural is a hit with me! I could rave about each and every one, especially “Put your lights on.”

  8. As I’m a big fan of Matchbox Twenty ‘Smooth’ was my favourite of these, though the U2 track runs it a close second. Probably the first time you’ve ever played a song that was used as background music for a tv football show (soccer, as William would call it!) 😊

  9. Tuesday and almost back to normality.
Definately loved Santana. Great song and loved listening to it again.

Enjoyed U2 video especially the standing on the runway section.
Not sure health and safety would approve nor the lying on the baggage carosel! but that’s Bono for you.
Who let the dogs out indeed? That was fun.

  10. 1st place—Santana. Rob Thomas is also a great performer, and I love his work Matchbox Twenty.
2nd place—U2. I miss their music. Their last album was in 2017.
