Welcome to the round up of posts you might have missed on Smorgasbord this week.
I hope that the week has treated you well. It is very cold and frosty here and we have been sticking close to home. No snow but the roads have been pretty treacherous. The birds are very hungry and also with all free standing water frozen everywhere they are making good use of the warm water I fill up their bath with a couple of times a day.
The Sally Bird Cafe and Spa is doing a roaring business with an all you can eat buffet of mixed seed, suet blocks, fat balls, meal worms, sunflower hearts, soaked sultanas, peanuts and cooked wholegrain rice. Charlie the crow that we rescued and rehabilitated last year does not go far from the garden and I suspect he shacks up with the starlings at night for company. He is there on the roof first thing in the morning giving me it in the ear if I am late. He still cannot open his beak very far so the cooked brown rice,a soft crumbly fat ball and a soft slice of brown bread with peanut butter is his idea of luxury.
Are they spoilt… absolutely they are more entertaining than Netflix and they sing to me every morning to start the day.
First my thanks to Mary Crowley who is not only an excellent author whose books I have enjoyed, but who is also a columnist for the The Munster Express a well known South East Ireland newspaper. Mary supports Irish authors and reviews books that she features too. She has always been very supportive of my new books when they are published as she has been for the latest.
If you are looking for more books to topple your TBR (they can take it) Marjorie Mallon has done an amazing montage of books she has reviewed this year and honoured to be included amongst friends and new authors I have yet to discover.
Just some of the excellent authors included D.G. Kaye, D. Wallace Peach, D.L. Finn, Richard Dee, Robbie Cheadle, Colleen Chesebro, Darlene Foster, Adele Marie Park, Jina S. Bazzar, Ritu Bhathal, Helen Pryke, Sarah Northwood, Michelle E. Northwood, S.C. Skillman and Lizzie Chantree. I hope you will head over to read the recommendations and dive into the pile…

What a busy and varied week it has been.
I’ve enjoyed reading the many posts through the week.
Glad David joined in too.
Things have been going missing here this week… a bit like David’s Bin Day… but not in the rubbish, in Santa’s sack.
My grandson is enjoying a role play adventure as Santa and even wanted Nanny to make him a Santa beard.

Love your round ups Sal. As always, I so appreciate your mentioning what’s going on on my blog, and all the highlights of the week here on yours. I did have a chuckle at ‘The Sally Bird Cafe and Spa ‘, lolol. You are loved by many, including the birds. I think Charlie is your child now, he knows where his bread – or his ‘fat balls’ are buttered. But also surprised the birds are still coming around in the cold. I woke up to our first real wallop of snow today. Happy to be staying planted too. Hugs ❤ xxx

Thanks for all the shares during the week Debby they do make a difference.. Most of our birds hang around all year as the temperature is usually not too extreme. Not much food around and I think the generations of birds after six years know where there is always something to eat. As for Charlie.. because he cannot open his beak very much when he calls out to me it sounds like a very rude word! Stay warm… ♥♥

I like your idea of adding warm water outside for the birds when its freezing. I keep the birds and squirrels that stay for winter in supply of seed and peanuts. We have a black bear who comes along once in a while and licks up the seed at night. Thanks for another great week. You have so many good books listed that would be a good gift under the tree. Hugs xo

Thanks very much Denise and a bear…. the largest creature in are garden apart from the occasional neighbourhood cat is a hedgehog who lives under the shed and is enormous because of all the treats the birds drop off the seeders.. ♥

How’d I get so lucky to have my book Twin Desires included in the romance/suspense category? Thanks much, Sally. Pete Springer recently won a copy of Twin Desires by his comment in my post two weeks ago. Can’t wait to see if he enjoys it. 🙂 We also have lots of winter birds at our birdfeeder and suet feeder. Once in a while they salute us (flapping their wings) with thanks.
