Smorgasbord Posts from Your Archives 2023 #Potluck – MondayMotivation – #Meditation #Tarot #DragonOracleCard by Jan Sikes

Welcome to the new series of Posts from Your Archives 2023 where I will be sharing posts from the last six months of 2022 I have selected from the archives of willing participants. If you wish to be included the information is at the the end of the post.

Today the first post from the archives of author Jan Sikes who shares her interpretation of tarot cards and the benefits of meditation. Although this post is from September 2022 I believe the message is always relevant.

MondayMotivation – #Meditation #Tarot #DragonOracleCard by Jan Sikes

Today’s post will be a little different. Just remember I go with what I am given. Almost always, the message is for me, and I can only hope it resonates with someone else as well. The inspiration for today’s post came from a blog post that C.S. Boyack wrote. If you’re interested, here’s the link: Cold Hand Boyack Sage Grouse

I can distinctly remember the first time I realized life wasn’t fair for everyone and it broke my heart. Then the first time I realized that not everyone was honest, my heart broke again. Little by little my naivete and innocence got stripped away. This sweet meditation took me back to my child self, full of innocence, wonder, and trust. Life has worked hard to deprogram that out of us.

I only pulled one card today, and this is what I got.

The Ten of Cups embodies happiness, joy, and emotional contentment, particularly in your relationships and family. You have created an abundance of love and happiness in your life, and you now share this love with others, expanding your heart even more. This card often appears when you are surrounded by your loved ones with whom you share a powerful and deep connection. You appreciate and support one another, and together, you help each other reach your highest potential. It brings you so much joy to see your loved ones succeed and live happy lives.

The Ten of Cups is the ‘happy family’ card, suggesting that your family relationships are harmonious and loving right now. No one is fighting or causing any tension; all family members are getting along with each other and sharing in the love and happiness that surrounds you. This card may appear in a reading when you are spending more time with family, perhaps on a holiday, reunion, or event, where you can rest and relax together, creating fun and happy family memories and strong bonds.

The Ten of Cups encourages you to follow your heart and trust your intuition to lead you to the opportunities aligned with your Highest Good. Your feelings and emotions will guide you. When something feels fantastic, do more of it; and when something doesn’t feel right, do less of it. Allow your inner guidance to lead the way. Seek out opportunities that fulfill you and align with your personal values instead of following the path that others expect you to take.

Honestly, there isn’t anything I can add to that. I think we are being reminded just how important family is, even though sometimes we may not understand them or even like them. We chose them. They chose us. On the other hand, we have adopted families, and the same applies.

And this little dragon adds a bit more to the theme and message.

Lilac and Fire Dragon. Transmutes through the power of divine love. Open up to transcendent love and enlightenment. Purity of heart brings peace, hope and joy.

I hope you have a great week ahead! Embrace your family and try to find the carefree child you once were.

My thanks to Jan for inviting me to share from her archives and I know she would love to hear from you.

About Jan Sikes

Jan Sikes is an award-winning Texas author who has been called a wordsmith by her peers. She openly admits that she never set out in life to be an author. But she had a story to tell. Not just any story, but a true story that rivals any fiction creation. You simply can’t make this stuff up. It all happened. She chose to create fictitious characters to tell the story through, and they bring the intricately woven tale to life in an entertaining way. She released a series of music CDs to accompany the four biographical fiction books and then published a book of poetry and art to complete the story circle.

And now that the story is told, this author can’t find a way to put down the pen. She continues to write fiction and has published many short stories with a series of novels waiting in the wings. Jan is a member of the Author’s Marketing Guild, The Writer’s League of Texas, Romance Writers of America, and the Paranormal Writer’s Guild. I am an avid fan of Texas music and grandmother of five beautiful souls. I reside in North Texas.

A small selection of books by Jan Sikes

One of the reviews for Saddled Hearts

Colt Layne, owner of the Layne Horse Sanctuary, and also a member of a music band, lives an idyllic life—until he is framed and arrested for murder. Sage Coventry is gifted with the ability to communicate with the deceased. When Colt accepts assistance from Sage, their path takes them on a journey of unexpected twists, revelations, and romance.

Whenever I open a book by Ms. Sikes, her unique storytelling transports me within the pages. The attraction sparks instantly between Colt and Sage, but I loved how these characters took their time in getting to build on the relationship. Each had past issues to resolve, which made this story extra special, in my opinion. The moment Sage entered the scene, she radiated warmth and kindness. And wow! Colt Layne can teach me how to ride a horse and tend to these special animals any day! He’s one hot, sexy, and sweet cowboy!

I highly recommend this heart-warming romance! Well done, Ms. Sikes!

How to feature in the series?

  • All I need you to do is give me permission to dive in to your archives and find two posts to share here on Smorgasbord. (
  • Rather than a set topic, I will select posts at random of general interest across a number of subjects from the second six months of 2022. (it is helpful if you have a link to your archives in your sidebar by month)
  • As I will be promoting your books as part of the post along with all your information and links so I will not be sharing direct marketing or self- promotional posts in the series.
  • If you are an author I am sure you will have a page on your blog with the details, and an ‘about page’ with your profile and social media links (always a good idea anyway). I will get everything that I need.
  • As a blogger I would assume that you have an ‘about page’ a profile photo and your links to social media.
  • Copyright is yours and I will ©Your name on every post… and you will be named as the author in the URL and subject line.
  • Previous participants are very welcome to take part again.
  • Each post is reformatted for my blog and I don’t cut and paste, this means it might look different from your own post especially if you are using the block editor
  • If I do share a post which contains mainly photographs I will share up to five and link back to the original post for people to view the rest.

N.B – To get the maximum benefit from your archive posts, the only thing I ask is that you respond to comments individually and share on your own social media.. thank you.
