Smorgasbord Blog Magazine – The Weekly Round Up – Music, Numerology, Vitamin C, Guest Posts and funnies.

Welcome to this week’s round up of post you might have missed on Smorgasbord.

It has been a good week for works in the garden with two days in a row of dry weather to do the final cement pour. This coincided with a visit from an old friend from Hampshire for a couple of nights, ending with a lovely dinner out last night.

There is still work to be done over the next few weeks but we will see about getting the house on the market earlier than anticipated whilst the paint is still fresh.

Today is the first of the Human in every Sense of the Word and my first guest is author Paulette Mahurin who shares a poignant and thought provoking memory that involved the senses…I hope you will join us.

William Price King is taking his usual summer break and will be spending time with his grandchildren in the mountains, hopefully a bit cooler than the rest of France and Europe is at the moment. Since this is the season of music festivals, I will be taking the opportunity to share some of the music William has posted over the last four years in a summer music festival.. In William’s last post before his break he shares the music of Arturo O’Farrill

Thank you for all the support this week and you lovely comments. Always love waking up in the morning and logging in to read and respond to them. Summer tends to be a little quieter as children go on holiday and vacations are taken, but always grateful to see you when you drop in.

Better get on with more posts from the week…..

Vitamin C is necessary for so many functions of the body that it is one of the key nutrients, along with Vitamin D that should be made a priority in food and sometimes in supplemental form. Vitamin C is not stored in the body, so if you do not eat regularly in your diet you can become deficient. Carol Taylor and I share the benefits, key food sources and recipes to ensure you are getting sufficient.

Smorgasbord Blog Magazine – #Numerology – Your Universal Energy for July by Annette Rochelle Aben

July! You snuck up on us now, didn’t you?

Okay. July is the 7th month of the year. Which means it has a Personal Numerology vibration of the number 7. This can be quite an intimidating vibration to bear. Sevens seem to create stress, because they are here to teach us to learn to delegate. To take the situation moment by moment and the task, bit by bit. 7 is also a very Spiritual number, which reminds us that when we can deal with stress via our spiritual nature, life becomes more peaceful.

Ah! Even stress can have a useful purpose, eh?

So, if July has a Personal Numerology of 7, what then, would be its Universal Numerology? Adding the 7 to the current year of 2019, we come up with the energy of a 1. This is the pervading energy to consider when looking this July in the eyes. Great! As both the number 1 and the number 7, have spirituality at their core!

Are you with me?

This feature is designed to provide insight into how to apply the wonderful world of Numerology in our lives using the months of the year as our lessons. Numerology says that every number has a vibrational energy and as such once we determine what the number for any given subject/object is, we can connect (or totally avoid if you are a big chicken) with said energy.

Don’t get your feathers ruffled.

Everything has a Personal Numerology vibration which explains what it brings to the current time frame. Because the current time frame also has a vibrational energy, we must combine the two for a more accurate picture. Hence, the adding of 2019 to the 7 of July to bring us into the present moment. defining the Universal Numerology for this month.

One for all and 1 for July!

If July feels like you have 7 puppies all wanting your attention at once. You can either lay down and let them run all over you or you can deal with them one at a time. Making peace with July inwardly, is the key to an easier month. Don’t take my word for it, give it your best shot and see what happens!

I’ve a feeling you got this!

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to Sally Cronin for the opportunity to share what I know about Numerology with you in this blog magazine. I certainly encourage you to FOLLOW this blog and meet the others who have been invited to contribute.

If you are curious as to how YOU would personally handle this energy, reach out, reach out and contact me! Because not only does energy change with every day, every month and every year but we are born with OUR OWN ENERGY. How the energies of the days, months and years specifically affects us individually, requires working with our personal numbers. My email is innerchildart (at) yahoo (dot) com.

about Think Tanka

Throughout time, the poet has used words to convey feelings, share ideas and unite the reader with their vision. Think Tanka uses the traditional structure of Japanese lyric poetry to unite the reader to the vision of the poet. if you can “see” what she is trying to “say” in every grouping of 31 syllables, then she has done her job. Think Tanka is a book for those who appreciate poetry, those who enjoy short reads, people who like to smile and those who know what it is like to be lost in a world of imagination. Whether you are buying this book for yourself or someone else, you’ll want to make sure you get an extra copy so you’ll have one on hand to share.

Other books by Annette Rochelle Aben

My review for PhoKu

The expression ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’ was first used in the early 20th century in both the American press and in some advertising. It has been adapted a number of times including to ‘A picture paints a thousand words’ and both are correct.

As a writer I find that images are one of my most important prompts for short stories and within novels too. For me the skill of another writer is illustrated by the images they create with their written word. So marrying the two together is a concept that works beautifully.

This is the case with PhoKu by Annette Rochelle Aben. Most of the photographs in the book were taken in Nankin Lake in Hines Park, Westland, Michigan; a backdrop of outstanding scenery. Apart from the seasons that are captured so delightfully; I particularly enjoyed the wild birds liberally featured throughout the images. There is also an original piece of artwork in the final pages that fits in very well with the theme.

All the photographs are combined with the traditional 17 syllables of a Haiku which is an art form in itself. For someone who can be a bit wordy, I find creating a story in such a narrow format hugely challenging; Annette Rochelle Aben has this mastered.

My advice is to look at each image first for several moments before you read the Haiku and you will find that there is an enhancement to your original perspective.

Smorgasbord Blog Magazine – The Weekly Round Up.. Gems from your Archives, Universal Energy and All That Jazz

Welcome to the round up of posts here on Smorgasbord that you might have missed…

The week has been unremarkable here except for the fact that it is June and it has not stopped raining for a week, with at least another week to go… and the heating is still on twice a day. This has not helped the work in the back garden which requires a couple of days of dry weather to put down gravel and then cement…

I am officially banning all singing and dancing for the rest of the summer… see what happens when this dance academy puts on a show and perform ‘Singing in the Rain’  I rest my case!. Thanks Lucinda Armstrong

Smorgasbord Blog Magazine – #Numerology – Your Universal Energy for June 2019 by Annette Rochelle Aben

Well, what have we here? June 2019 already? Gee whiz, half a year passing and giving us reason to grit our teeth, for in another half year, Christmas will arrive.

Really Annette, really?

What I am hoping people understand about this entire series of Numerology is that it is a tool to divine energy. Energy of days, months, years and people! Using the energy of numbers, discovered by the ancient mathematician, Pythagoras, we can learn of these energies. There is power in knowledge and why not gather as much power into your life as possible!

Using not only numbers themselves but the numeric value of the alphabet, we can identify characteristics and traits that help us understand people better. If you know you are with someone who requires space, you can choose to allow for such a requirement and build a better relationship. Conversely, if you find traits in someone which do not sit well with you, you can let go with ease, knowing it’s the best for all concerned.

This brings us back to the present moment and the energy of the month of June.

June, being the 6th month of the calendar year, vibrates to the supportive energy of the number 6. A number which supports the winner in all of us, the victor in the battles of life. Allowing us to be adults even when our inner child wants to run around screaming in delight. Not in a restrictive way but knowing when this is appropriate. This is the Personal Energy of June no matter the year.

The number 6 also brings out the teachers, and healers within. People of respected service have a 6 in a prominent place in their numerology charts. This can also include police officers, judges and royalty.

Think about it, June is a grand month for weddings, graduations and we dive off the board of Spring into Summer! Summer’s energy, itself, is all about celebrations and happiness.

Party on Garth

In order to narrow the current energy of June, we must add that 6 to the energy of 2019, which is a 3. 9, then, becomes the Universal Energy of June of this year. The 9 brings us to make choices. Choices of letting go of what no longer works for us, leaving us with the room to surround ourselves with only that which enriches our space.

Monkey wrench, anyone?

If you are curious as to how YOU would personally handle this energy, reach out, reach out and contact me! Because not only does energy change with every day, every month and every year but we are born with OUR OWN ENERGY. How the energies of the days, months and years specifically affects us individually, requires working with our personal numbers.

My email is innerchildart (at) yahoo (dot) com.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to Sally Cronin for the opportunity to share what I know about Numerology with you in this blog magazine. I certainly encourage you to FOLLOW this blog and meet the others who have been invited to contribute.

My thanks as always to Annette for taking the time to put this together for us… I am looking forward to the completion of a number of projects in June that open up the rest of the year for new adventures…

“Go You” is imbued with sparkle and élan. This is pure sunshine in a book. It radiates positivity, encouragement, and self-love. I read this book in one sitting, but this is the type of book that you read again and again. I consider it a gift from the author and it’s a gift that keeps on giving. I will read from this book whenever I need a pick-me-up, because it delivers.

Smorgasbord Blog Magazine – Weekly Round Up

Welcome to the round up of posts that you might have missed this week on Smorgasbord.

A quiet week on the home front, with a couple of days of sunshine and more today, so I will be out in the garden for much of the day…not so much making hay as getting rid of the rust in my joints!  David has been working to level off the back garden which was left as a weedy slope, and once the workmen have completed the pathway and resurfaced the back patio, we shall have a lovely spot to eat out which gets the sun in the summer until 10.00pm.  Also another step to getting the house ready to go on the market next spring.

I have also managed to find dry enough days to finish by pot plants. We then had three days of torrential rain and I am afraid some of the younger plants drowned.. you have to be hardy around here!

As always thank you for your support during the week and to the contributors who continue to share such wonderful articles.

I am so thrilled by the amazing response to the new Posts from the Archives series with over 40 bloggers allowing me access to their archives, to select four posts to share with everyone. This means I will be doing a lot of reading of posts, which is wonderful and it means that we have about three months worth of posts. Apologies if you have just gone on the list, but I will respond to you and get in touch when I have selected your posts… The first of those later in the post..

Now for the posts from the week……

In this series we look at cooking and your diet from a different perspective. Usually we emphasize the health benefits of food and how they can be incorporated into your diet. But, what happens if you do NOT include them in your diet.

We wanted to share with you what happens if your body is deprived of individual nutrients over an extended period of time.

Carol Taylor takes the ingredients that contain good sources of the nutrient and creates dishes that the whole family will love..this week Vitamin B6.. and delicious Chicken and prune tagine, tofu and honey bites and spicy sweet potato balls.

I trot this post our once a year as a reminder that you are being watched… even when you are not in front of your computer screen. It is not only thieves and vagabonds you need to worry about who might have designs on your empty house, but also trying to claim on your health insurance for some unfortunate mishap that took place while you were having fun in the sun.

Here is the first of the posts I have selected from the archives of D.G. Kaye, Debby Gies. This is the first post of four from author Jane Risdon… Jane loves to go on a ‘jolly’ for those of you who are unfamiliar with the expression… It is taking a road trip and having fun.. basically. The first post from her archives of 2016 is an example of that.

My next guest in the new series of Posts from Your Archives is author Mary Smith.. I have two blogs to select the four posts from and the first is from her blog My Dad’s A Goldfish, where Mary shares here experiences caring for her father as his dementia worsened. In this post however, she shares the tragedy of the dementia of a school friend who she has remained in contact with, who developed the disease at a much earlier age. Very poignant…

I have often highlighted the inconsistencies of medical studies and the profound and sometimes downright dangerous statements made that vilify or extol the virtues of either a food or medication. This was the case in 2012 when a Professor, labeled one of the UK’s leading experts stated that everyone over the age of 50 should be prescribed statins to reduce their cholesterol levels.  In this post I look at the latest research into Statins and their long term impact on our health.

Smorgasbord Blog Magazine – #Numerology – Your Universal Energy for May 2019 by Annette Rochelle Aben

Hi there! Fancy meeting you here. My name is Annette Rochelle Aben and I am a professional numerologist.

Don’t let that scare you, my being a professional or a numerologist. All this means, is that I am qualified to pen this post. Credentials provided upon request.

Numerology, is a wonderful scientific tool for understanding personality traits of yourself or others. Having this information at your fingertips can help guide everything from your career choices to finding the best days to make major decisions about money or relationships.

Glad you could join me today!

Here we are in the merry month of May and I would love to share numerology information pertaining to the month itself and for the month of May here in 2019. See, every month, has its own energy (Personal Energy) and May’s personal energy is that of a 5. The 5 is the number of magic and miracles; most auspicious indeed. Yet, here in 2019, it takes on a more elevated meaning (Universal Energy) We gain that knowledge by adding the 5 of May to 2019, which gives us an 8. The 8 is defined by the word ambition.

Basically, the month of May might find you ambitious about miracles!

If you are seeking to advance your career, this is the month to make your move! Perhaps you’ll want to do research about opportunities available. Go for it! Maybe, you’ll be moved to enroll in a class to complete the degree you may have been wanting to finish. Sign on the dotted line! In other words, this is a great month to make investments in yourself! Also, consider entering a weight loss program, starting an exercise class or even redecorating your home.

Take the bull by the horns!

Look at the composition of the number 8, it appears to be an ongoing loop. When most people write an 8, they start at the top and loop out, down and around, returning to the top. Because of this, an 8 is also defined as a number meaning, as above, so below. It brings us together with Divine Intervention. If we are willing to toss our hopes and dreams out into the ethers, we may just love the results. Albeit, they may not materialize precisely as we imagined, because they’ll come to fruition in a more miraculous way.

Pretty cool, eh?

Suffice to say, that here in the month of May, we can use the Universal Energy of the 8 to connect with support from forces greater than ourselves. We can use the Personal Energy of the month of May (the 5) to receive the magic of miracles.

When you are ready to explore your own Personal Energy, reach out to me at innerchildart (at) yahoo (dot) com and I can prepare a monthly report or something longer. Reasonable rates and great knowledge to have at your avail.

Books by Annette Rochelle Aben

One of the reviews for A Tanka Picture Book

Annette Rochelle Aben writes the most beautiful and heartfelt poetry, most frequently in the form of tanka and haiku verse. Annette bares her thoughts, feelings and soul to the world with her writing and enables you to experience her joy and delight at living with her. One identifying feature of Annette’s poetry is that she appeals to all five of the senses. I frequently find that poems focus on the visual, what the writer sees, but not that many poets manage to capture the smell, sound and touch of life in quite the way Annette does. One of the poems in this book that filled me with delight is this one: We found paradise Filled with rolling hills of green Houses so cozy Paths strewn with flowers fragrant Watercolor painted skies

There will be details on a new series of Posts from Your Archives with a different theme after Easter. The family posts have been wonderful and thanks to all those who have shared their posts. These posts are different from the guest posts as they have a specific theme.

Both of these series offer you the chance to showcase your writing but also your books with any recent reviews..

Tribute to a writing companion…my office chair and Cathaoireacha…

I have been using the same chair that we bought in Carrefour supermarket in Spain for 15 years. It is leather with stainless steel arms and trim and was the most comfortable chair I have ever used for writing. I would swivel it around to watch television as well in our office and when we first arrived in Ireland three years ago, I was parted from it for six months. I noticed the difference.

Last week as I swivelled to pick up a file at the end of my desk, the chair tossed me unceremoniously onto the floor where I lay in a bemused heap. The handyman (in house) inspected the chair from every angle and we realised that one of the five stainless steel feet on the pedestal was being held up in pain and was an inch above the floor. Further investigations revealed a stress fracture and it was not reparable.

Going online to look for a similar style of chair, in leather was  a bit of a shocker. Looked like it was going to be 400 Euro which is good value if I could get another 15 years out of it but still worth checking around.

When we first moved here David had bought some second hand office furniture from a warehouse in Wicklow and following a phone call we headed up there yesterday to inspect the stock. What a great guy… and it was a treasure trove in his warehouse with furniture stacked to the rafters including leather office swivel chairs. We spend 15 minutes moving things about and of course I spotted just the chair I wanted right at the back under a bunch of other ones.. David dug it out and I sat in it.. more fancy than my old one with more padding and leather arms, deep seat and back and perfect. Easily a 500 euro chair..

We called the owner over and prepared to negotiate..especially when he said it was from a bank office clearance and was the CEO’s chair…..you can imagine our surprise when he offered it to us for 70 Euro… wow.. no negotiating needed.

And as a bonus. We mentioned the demise of my stalwart writing companion… and lo and behold he had a five leg pedestal that fits all the models and he gave that to us for free.

David has now repaired the old chair and he is going to use from now on to replace the wooden one currently doing the job. I love my new chair as it has a bit more padding which is a bonus for my butt… and very happy that an old friend is not going to end up on the scrap heap. Here they are together… family.

I am married to a man who thankfully believes in buying second hand… I was too…. and whilst it is lovely to have shiny new stuff….at the end of the day a little bit of wear and tear and a fantastic bargain is as satisfying as spending six time more on a new item.

Recycling is so important and as the landfills continue to grow into mountains of household goods that have been usurped by new items, it is well worth donating them to charity shops or passed on to people like this guy who provides a wonderful service. Thanks to Pat Harvey who also sells a multitude of other products for the home.. Wicklow Hygiene Products Ltd..so if you live in the area.. he’s your man!

On the subject of family and cathaoireacha…chairs

When David and I came over to Ireland in early November 1980 to meet his family (we met and married in 6 weeks) I was given a warm welcome. When presented with a glass of wine.. which was often.. I would wish everyone ‘cheers’. Eventually I asked what the Irish was for ‘cheers’ as as one they announced that it was ‘Kaheeraka’ (phonetically). For many years afterwards when in Ireland or in the company of Irish acquaintances, I would raise my glass and say ‘Kaheeraka’..  only discover that I had been hazed.. and what I was really saying was Cathaoireacha..’Chairs’. Gotta love family…. all in good fun….No wonder himself is laughing in this photograph taken that weekend…..

On with the posts from the week…

Smorgasbord Blog Magazine – #Numerology – Your Universal Energy for April 2019 by Annette Rochelle Aben

To refresh those who may be new to this column…

Numerology may seem like an abstract concept to some but basically, it is the belief that everything can be converted to a number and that numbers have meaning that help us understand our world better. This dates back, to the sixth century B.C. when philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras, introduced this information through his teachings.

I have been using numerology in my everyday life, since I was a little girl. All these years as a professional psychic reader, I unconsciously incorporate numerology into my readings. Much to the surprise of the recipients, they are amazed at the accuracy of the information.

And now to April

Welcome to April 2019, the first full month of Spring! There is much to celebrate as the earth bursts forth with new life. Being the 4th month of the calendar year, April holds the energy of the physical world. Yet, when combined with the energy or the current year, it takes on a whole new meaning.

The purpose of this series is to inform everyone about the layers of energy that shift each month, and to arm us with knowledge that can help us make sense of it all.
(deep sigh)

The Universal Energy of a month tells us what the current year adds to the month’s Personal Energy.

The personal energy shows us how that entity will handle the Universal Energy.

To find the Universal Energy, we are adding all the numbers of the current year and reducing the end result, to the smallest number between 1 & 9. 2 + 0 + 1 + 9 = 3.

Hence, the Universal Energy for 2019 is a 3.

A 3 energy is all about staying in the present moment, communication and integration. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule but in order to know about the exceptions that would pertain to a particular person or day, those would have to be looked at individually. Be glad to do that for you, contact me: innerchildart (at) yahoo (dot) com.

Rates are reasonable, I promise…

Back to April and all the fun we can anticipate.

When you take the Personal Energy of April, which is the 4 and add it to the Universal Energy of 2019, which as we said is a 3, we end up with a 7. While April’s energy is here to help us embrace stability, which is a physical world trait, the 7 energy can shake that up for one and all.

A 7 energy can make us feel like there is something we don’t know, like we have to keep searching. One can feel a bit unsettled when it seems like we don’t have it all figured out and can’t figure out why.

Oh, the tricks our minds can play and the folly of giving into the “confusion.”

This is where knowing how to take a deep breath and step back, comes in handy. Because we are the only ones who can decide what we will believe or not believe, we have to choose to allow ourselves to feel overwhelmed. That 7 is a gift! It helps us learn to compartmentalize. If there is too much to do around your home in the month of April (taking the energy of the 4 and wanting to ensure the stability of your surroundings) make a list of priorities and tick them off one by one. Little bits being accomplished will add up to the completion of the bigger picture.

Also, the 7 suggests that we have faith in being able to handle situations. This is where that taking a moment to breathe can be a great help.

Recap:

April is offering us the energy of wanting to shore up our physical world, home, finances, body, etc. When blended with the Universal Energy of 2019, we can make it all work out by not over complicating things.

About Annette Rochelle Aben

Annette has an attitude of gratitude that she spreads around on a daily basis… Annette’s Blog and also by interviewing authors on radio Tell Me A Story with Annette Rochelle Aben | The Magic Happens (TMH)

A love of writing, began for Annette when she was but a small child. Of course, she gives all the credit to her parents, who read to her and her siblings from the moment they were born. Once in school, teachers took over the roles of main influencers, as they required the students to do a lot of (wait for it… wait for it…) WRITING!

Over the years, Annette has been blessed with having both hobbies and jobs that required her to write. This resulted in her winning the admiration of peers and industry professionals alike. Publication lead to awards, which provided even more encouragement and now, Annette Rochelle Aben is a #1 Best Selling Author!

These days, Annette writes poetry books, coaches others through the writing of their books, and edits articles for the digital magazine The Magic Happens.

Along the way, Annette found time to explore the worlds of Aroma Therapy, Astrology, Bach Flower Essences, Crystal Therapy, Feng Shui, Hypnotherapy, Music Therapy, Numerology, Reiki, and Tarot. Guided by her Angels as to what to study and with whom, Annette turned many of her studies into sideline businesses.

Books by Annette Rochelle Aben

One of the recent reviews for A Tanka Picture Book

Smorgasbord Blog Magazine – Weekly Round Up – Estate Agent Code, Gardening, Roast Dinners, Numerology, Italian Cookery, Editing, music and Books galore..

Welcome to the round up of posts on Smorgasbord this week that you might have missed.

It has been a varied week weather wise as we had a false spring for two days and then were plunged back into frosts and rain. I sat out for an hour in the garden those two days and it was wonderful. I was tempted to come out of hibernation but I am now back in the cave waiting for the real deal.

We need good weather for the next phase of the garden renovation at the back of the house which will have the current tarmac extended and the creation of an outside eating area to take advantage of the summer late evenings. With the addition of some benches in various places and some more tubs of flowers the garden will be complete.

We have a few jobs left inside and the plan is to put the house on the market, probably spring of 2020 and then downsize. We have been here for three years in June and it was always intended as a ‘doerupper’ as far too big for just two of us. It has gone from a wreck to a lovely family home and deserves to have children running around it to bring it to life.

We have no idea where we will go next, but at least with the Internet, google maps and satellite views, you can explore everywhere these days and see every detail of a property in relation to towns and facilities to the neighbours. Estate agents rarely (never) provide any downsides to a property, using a creative approach to descriptions, as you will see from this info graphic courtesy of House Simple

As always my thanks to the contributors who create some amazing posts to share here. And to everyone who has visited this week and like, commented and shared the posts.

Smorgasbord Blog Magazine – #Numerology with Annette Rochelle Aben – Your Monthly Universal Energy – March 2019

So, if you want to delve further into this interesting world, contact me at innerchildart (at) yahoo (dot) com. I offer personal readings and classes!

Until then…

Welcome to March 2019 and all the wonders herein! I love this month because it is offering us the energy of (wait for it – wait for it) ENERGY! If you have been feeling that your get up and go, got up and went during the winter, March lends its energy of a 3 to your anxiousness. Thank you, March, you are our friend.

However, this March, we are working with the Universal Energy of 2019 + 3, which gives us a 6. 2 + 0 + 1 + 9 + 3 = 15. Then you take the 1 + 5 and add it down to the smallest number between 1 & 9, which is a 6.

Trust me on this, okay…

The beauty of time frame of 6 is that it gives us the chance to be our best selves. We have climbed to the tops of the mountains, wrestled the alligators and ridden on the backs of tigers. During this time, we can be recognized for our winning ways and doesn’t that always feel good!

Here in March, choose to let your light shine. After all, you’ve been dealing with the dreary of winter, and now is time to start shedding the trappings of being all bundled up piece by piece. True, we go through most of the month still in winter, we are heading for the welcome freshness of spring.

Now, how does this personally pertain to you? You need to know YOUR PERSONAL YEAR energy. Add the numbers of your birth month and birth day together, then add that number to the 3 of 2019 and reduce the number to the smallest number between 1 and 9, this will give you your current personal year number. Knowing the energy of the numbers in your life, provides guidance.

Recap:

The Universal Energy of March 2019 is a 6. This month presents us with opportunities to be winners! So, allow yourself to let your cape fly in the wind while you make the most of the wind beneath your wings!

If you would like to explore March in more detail in relation to your personal year number then please contact Annette and find out more about her services..
