About the book

When the discovery of a lifetime… …becomes a rescue mission.

Will the crew of the Goliath have the courage to do the right thing?

Repairing a spaceship to fly to the Moon wasn’t the easiest job Sam ever took on, but if it helped get his merit badges…

Then like any would-be Lunar Scout, he’d always do his best.

His best friend, Max the Robot, had been a great help with the repairs, but as the time to launch approached, Sam’s worries grew.

Would the Goliath even fly?

You will love this super fun space adventure, full of brave choices and great friends.

Join the adventure!

One of the recent reviews for Rites of Passage

May 01, 2021 Gary Myers rated it five it was amazing

Unique flavour of YA contemporary fantasy

There should be a word for that feeling when you get to the end of a book and check for the next in the series, only to find it hasn’t been published yet. I’ll settle for ‘hopeful’ (and Follow Author) and wait for it to come.

While the main plot is wrapped up, there’s a Big Bad out there, and leading characters to chase them, or be chased.

The fae magic, that is open and familiar to the population, gives a specific flavour to the author’s world, even with familiar late teen/early adult protagonists.

Doug Parker writes Action & Adventures stories in the realms of Science-Fiction and Urban Fantasy.

He fell in love with books as a child, spending many happy nights reading under his covers with a flashlight instead of sleeping.

His first foray into writing came in college, where he was published several times by on-campus magazines. After ranging about in theatre and film for a few years, he returned to his true passion of writing books.

He lives in Bermuda with his wife, child, cat, two dogs and enough wild birds to make Alfred Hitchcock nervous.
