Delighted to re-share my five star review from January 2021 for D. Wallace Peach and Lords of Chaos (Unraveling the Veil Book 3)
About the book
In this thrilling conclusion to the Unraveling the Veil series, tensions mount and war looms.
After saving the changeling queen from a savage death, a second sworn oath sends Naj, Alue, and Talin to the mine where the first disappearances set the wheels of anarchy in motion. But it’s not the renders of Kalann il Drakk, the First of Chaos, who confront them in the blackness of the collapsed tunnels. It’s another foe, no less deadly.
When brutality strikes in the stone cells of the Authority, accusations and blame splinter trust. Once again, the fragile threads of loyalty that once bound the companions together on an impossible mission fray. The alliance finally breaks.
Naj, a goblin mage and traitor, returns to Jad’ra, determined to defend his home. With nothing to lose, Talin retreats to the changelings’ jungle to find his queen a stranger and his city on the verge of burning. Alue journeys to the Riverlands on a hopeless quest to enlist the aid of the elfin king.
All the while, the First of Chaos gloats. For only as allies will his three adversaries prevail. Above the hall of the First, his brethren, the Veil vanishes before the truth. The hordes of chaos descend on the known land, and the final battle begins.
My review for the book January 2nd 2021
If you were left gasping at the end of book two of this series, then I can assure you the action does not let up in Lords of Chaos. We hit the deck running with Naj, Alue and Talin as they battle the unseen forces devastating the land, hoarding crystals, and vanishing changelings, goblins and elves into thin air.
Each faces opposition within their own lands where familiar faces hide secrets and trust becomes a rare commodity. If not one of their traditional enemies, who is at the head of this attempt to end the world around them?
Behind the veil, the Firsts too are wondering about the intentions of the Lord of Chaos who seems disinclined to listen to the voice of reason. But all is revealed as we hurtle towards the climax and the ultimate fight for power.
This is a series that has engaged from the first page and maintained pace and creativity to the very last moment. The characters of Naj, Alue and Talin have evolved from confused individuals as to their identity and place in their own worlds, into superheroes willing to fight to the death, not just for their own people, but for each other.
D. Wallace Peach has created a world that runs parallel to our own in many respects, with tyrants, narcissistic power hungry overlords, and ordinary men and women who are willing to put their lives on the line for the greater good. You find yourself willing on the band of mismatched warriors and their heroic supporters as they rise and fall time after time in this epic story. A brilliant read and I can recommend you start with Liars and Thieves then Allies and Spies so that you can be swept away in this adventure too.

About Diana Wallace Peach
I didn’t care for reading as a child – I preferred Bonanza and Beverly Hillbillies reruns, Saturday morning cartoons and the Ed Sullivan show. Then one day, I opened a book titled The Hobbit. Tolkien … literally changed my life.
I love writing, and have the privilege to pursue my passion full time. I’m still exploring the fantasy genre, trying out new points of view, creating optimistic works with light-hearted endings, and delving into the grim and gritty what-ifs of a post-apocalyptic world. Forgive me if I seem untethered in my offering of reads. Perhaps one day, I’ll settle into something more reliable. For now, it’s simply an uncharted journey, and I hope you enjoy the adventure as much as I.
Thanks for dropping in today and I hope you have enjoyed the review for Lords of Chaos again and will head over to buy the book.. thanks Sally.

Diana may yet turn me into a fantasy reader. I’ve read two of her books, and they were both thoroughly engaging. For those who don’t follow her blog, I highly recommend that you take a look, as her topics are always thought-provoking. Be prepared to wade through over 100+ comments. That’s further proof of how engaging her blog is. She also reviews oodles of books each month for those who are on the lookout for great reads.

Aww, Pete, what a wonderful comment. Thank you for being a blog friend and for giving my books a try. I love bringing non-fantasy readers over to the dark side. Lol. You’ve read the first in this series, which gave me a huge smile. Have a great afternoon.

Thank you for another wonderful review, Sally! Thank you also for remembering me on my hopefully better knowledge of vocables to finish reading “Soul Swallowers” now. Honestly i had started this in the past, but after some pages I realized then that my inner dictionary was not enough. Lol But now i think to be better prepared, and the “Lords of Chaos” are also sounding very familiar to me. 😉 xx Michael

Thank you, Sally. What a treat to read your wonderful review, and I’m so glad you enjoyed the series and the intense climax. I did want my ordinary confused characters to rise to the level of extraordinary, and I’m so glad you came away with that sense. A wonderful review for which I’m grateful. Hugs.
