Now something from Sally
More lost in translation.
‘I’ve got an infallible betting system for horse racing,’ said Freddy. ‘I just think of something that has happened to me recently, and then I look for a horse that fits. I’ll give you an example. A couple of weeks ago, I dropped the teapot – so I backed ‘Broken China’ and it romped home at 20 to 1. Then the day after I had been playing roulette at the casino, I backed ‘Wheel of Fortune’, and it won. Last Christmas, we went to the pantomime, and the next day I backed ‘Cinderella’ and 100 to 8 and I cleared £250.
‘Sounds good to me,’ said Nigel. ‘I’ll try it.’
When they met a week later, Freddy asked Nigel how he got on at the races with his system.
‘Didn’t work for me,’ said Nigel. ‘I was walking to work on the Friday and my hat blew off. The nearest horse I could find at the races on Saturday was ‘Winds of Change’.’
‘And did it win,’ said Freddy.
‘Came in last,’ said Nigel. ‘The winner was some French horse called ‘Mon Chapeau’.’
Newsflash
A lorry carrying copies of the new Thesaurus crashed today. Witnesses were startled, stunned, amazed, staggered, taken aback, aghast…..
I hope this has left you with a smile on your face and please feel free to pass it on…thanks Debby and Sally.

I think I need to trade in my guardian angel for a new model.
There’s a commercial in America where Pinocchio is serving as a motivational speaker. He looks around the room at the crowd and says something like, “When I look around the room, I see nothing but potential. You have potential…”) That’s about the time his nose starts to grow.🤣

Lollllllll, I’m still laughing out loud hysterically at ‘ mon chapeau’. And loved the thesaurus too. So hilarious today. Loved seeing those memes – the first two which I can identify with well. LOL ❤

The margaritas and the trees were my favorite! The old search engine brings back memories. I’m quite happy we are no longer in those days. Lol! 🙂

I remember doing most of my studying at the library out of great tomes that had the tiniest print.. all those hours when you can find most things now at a click of a button…hugsxx

Too funny, ladies. I remember the old search engine in the library. I liked flipping through the card catalogue and used the microfiche machine! 🙂 🙂

Thanks Miriam.. I never could get the hang of the microfiche.. it used to whizz by far too fast lol. xx

I know, Sally. I probably used one that was more ancient. I manually scrolled the microfilm to search for the documents.

Lol Miriam. I didn’t like the microfiche machine. I could already tell then that technology would take over. 🙂 xx

I didn’t like it either but I had to use it for my assignments. My first computer was a huge one with a metal box, dot matrix print. 😂

These are great. Debby, I well remember the first search engine. It worked! Sometimes better than the current ones!
The tree one is so clever, and that guardian angel must be mine, I think.
Sally I love both of yours, but especially the thesaurus.

I love the canine motivational speaker! If I admit to being intimately acquainted with libraries’ card catalogs, does that make me old?
