Welcome to the round up of posts you might have missed this week on Smorgasbord.

I was supposed to be on the high seas this morning, enjoying the sunshine on deck. However, having got up at 5.30 a.m… put the last couple of bags into the car, I got ready to head out at 6.00 a.m. David was out there and I pushed the remote to open the electronic gates and nothing happened.. David tried the opener by the front door and nothing either. So he ran over to open with manual key and I was finally off. Then he stopped me and told me one of my side lights was out. The headlights were working and the other lights so I decided to carry on.

I arrived at the port at 7.15 and checked in but decided to check all the lights again. I enlisted the driver in front of me and he confirmed that only my sidelights and indicators and brake lights were working but I had no headlights. I couldn’t risk driving in the UK for 250 miles, due rain today without headlights so I made the decision to back out of the queue, check out at the gate and drive home.

It is a bank holiday this weekend so getting it into a garage to thoroughly check the electrics is going to be a challenge. Hopefully I might get away by Wednesday but as that is looking doubtful, I may have to think about flying if I want to go this week.

I look upon events like these as an opportunity to consider some alternative theories…Three electrical faults that delayed or prevented me from travelling.. the gates that worked perfectly yesterday, the sidelight and then the headlights the final and most critical element. Perhaps something or someone didn’t want me travelling today by sea on on busy roads or just my overactive imagination!!

Anyway… I will keep you updated..I am very disappointed as I am looking forward to seeing my family, but hopefully we can sort it out quickly.

As always my thanks also goes to my friends who contribute to the blog

Head over to check out her own posts including a close look at the milk alternatives, particular nut and potatoes. As Carol points out there is also quite a lot of other ingredients, not necessarily as healthy, to make these ‘milks’ taste and have the texture you want to put on your cereal or in your tea. Also a celebration of the Dandelion, king of the garden according to the bees. CarolCooks2

  1. Oh my goodness, just read that you did not get away! How disappointing for you. Everything comes in 3’s so lets hope you geet away soom.

And no funnies this week to laugh about? Just funny things with garage doors and headlights?

Enjoy your time and with any luck the rain will turn off!

  2. So disappointing, Sally. Hopefully everything will fall into place eventually, but it does seem that it wasn’t meant to be this time. Catching up on all these brilliant links now. The TBR pile ever grows – some great holiday reading in between the walks on our next holiday. x

  3. What a bummer about your trip. It does seem like life conspires to make things go wrong at the worst times. Much better not to make some bad luck into a story of disaster. Hopefully, it won’t be postponed for too long.

  4. Sal, first of all, as always, thanks so much for the platform and all you do. And second, omg, I was dismayed to read your attempt to finally go to England was snafued. I know how forward you were looking to go. But I have to say, and you know me and the universe, that you are so right, you had plenty of signs not to go, then to turn back when you ventured out anyway. Maybe you should just fly, unless you have time to wait til Wednesday if they can fix your lights by Wednesday. And if I remember correctly, you just recently had your car all serviced. Didn’t they check the lights? Oye! ❤ xox

  5. An excellent group of posts, Sally. I caught up on most of them. :-) I’m sorry your trip was postponed, but it sure does seem like the universe was telling you to delay. And I know it’s silly to say so, but those warnings do seem to happen in threes. So you’re done with them now. Happy Travels. ❤
