Smorgasbord Blog Magazine – Weekly Round Up 20th – 26th November 2023 – Santa Wishes, New for 2024, Hits 1960s, Short Stories, Christmas Book Fair, Reviews, Health and Funnies

Welcome to the round up of posts this week you might have missed on Smorgasbord.

My outing this week was in the flesh to have lunch at a lovely hotel up the coast from us. The Arklow Bay Hotel… with David and my brother-in-law and his wife. Great fun as always and a lovely meal. My first roast turkey dinner of the season followed by apple pie, custard and whipped cream. The hotel was already decked out in festive finery and they had a full size Santa in the corner by the stairs, and who could resist his welcoming smile…

I feel I have been a reasonably good girl this year, so felt it was appropriate to let him know what I would like for Christmas…give him his due, his smile never faltered as he tried to compute the cost of a tropical island with a luxury villa, fully kitted out and stocked with food, medical supplies and high-speed  broadband and a helicopter for weekly shopping and emergencies.

If you don’t see me in the New Year you will know he pulled it off… go Santa.

And some news for 2024…

My aim is to still provide a platform to promote your books in various ways, and also to bring you new series of of the regular features.

One of these will begin on January 5th and will feature William Price King’s selection of ‘Duets’ from the 1960s onwards. Artists collaborating with others to create amazing music that became hits and are still enjoyed today.

As always my thanks to my friends who contribute to the blog…

William Price King joined me this week for next of the The Breakfast Show reruns with music from the 60s to the 2000s. This week Bobby Lewis, The Miracles, The Everly Brothers and Ricky Nelson. Also on Friday William featured John McClaughlin, English guitarist, composer and bandleader You can also find William Blog– IMPROVISATIONWilliam Price King on Tumblr

Debby Gies will be back with another in her series on Spiritual Awareness on December 11th.  This week she joined me with some of her great funnies  on Thursday. On her own blog Debby shared the shenanigans involved in changing your phone and her November Writer’s links as well as her review for Stevie Turner’s latest release, a short story Farewell. A fun romp with an aging band, with a twist of detective story. Head over toD.G. Kaye

Carol Taylor will be here with her next Green Kitchen on Wednesday 29th November. She also has some very exciting news with the upcoming release of her first cookbook – A Homemade Christmas which I have had the privilege of reading in advance. Brilliant and I was blown away by the recipes, memories and wonderful abundance of nibbles, starters, mains, desserts and baked goods and gifts.  Anyway head over to Carol’s blog and dive into her archives for more recipes and great posts on food and cultures. 2. Looking forward to the new items – I can think of many duets that would be good to see featured and I’m already looking forward to Carol’s book. My favourite piece has to be your visit to Santa and that modest list of requests. I know no one who deserves it more, though! xx
