Welcome to the round up of posts you might have missed this week on Smorgasbord.
A mixed week for us with sun and rain and I took advantage of the sunshine to empty and refill some of the flower pots with autumn bloomers. I also took some photographs of our trees whilst they still have leaves on them. They will be useful when we put together the images when the house goes on the market, likely mid to late October when most of the leaves will be gone. At least prospective buyers will be able to see what it can look like.
I have also picked up my tapestry again after a break of some years where blogging and writing seemed to fill most of the waking hours of the day. I have eight full size canvases around the house and some smaller ones going back 30 years to when we lived in London and I gave up smoking. I needed something to keep my fingers busy when watching television so began the first one in 1992. I have two unfinished pieces, one of which is a mother elephant and her calf which is about a metre square which is a major project. I am hoping the mild weather continues for a little while longer as I am enjoying sitting in the garden and sewing. Here are two of my full size pieces including my first effort Van Gogh’s sunflowers. Blogging and writing are still high on my priority list but I had forgotten the pleasure working with these pieces brought me.

Thanks again for including me and mine Sally.
Wonderful tapestries, BTW. I’ve been a cross-stitcher for a long time and made a couple that are heirlooms now (for Leanne and myself, at least). I have one left to finish, but my eyes aren’t what they were and my interests drift. I’m hopeful.
Good luck with the light for winter.

Thanks Frank and I find it a very therapeutic pastime. I have an LED magnifier arriving today specifically for close work and hoping that will make a difference. Worth it to get the benefit..and I find music helps.. xx

I’ll be interested to hear how that works out, Sally. May have a need, myself. I’ve just been diagnosed with cataracts. No wonder the world is a blur!

Sorry to hear that Frank… it is amazing what they can do these days to correct the problem and hope that you won’t have to wait too long to get started on the treatment.. xx

Your tapestries are beautiful, Sally. What a great skill you have. I cannot get enough of the taste-testing dogs. I’m going to share it with one of my daughters, who will especially love it.
Another fantastic round-up! Thanks for the recap, since I missed several of these over the course of the last week.

Thanks for another fab week Sal, and thanks again for sharing my posts too <3. My goodness you are a wealth of talent, writer, podcaster, blogger, health guru and tapestries – not to mention house fixer upper, lol. Good for you Sal. We sometimes need something a little different. I've been delving deep into spiritual awakenings this past 2 weeks, and busy trying to master the tarot. Looking forward to tomorrow's post. Hugs ❤ xx

HI Sally, your tapestries are lovely. You have a talent for tapestry. I also did some of these many years ago, but I haven’t tried again recently. I had a short go at cross stitch last December, but it strained my eyes so that’s a no-go, sadly.

My eyes are not great even with glasses with the small stitches but I find being in bright daylight helps. I am going to invest is a specialist lamp which should help through the winter…xxx

I find, like Madame Guillotine i don’t have to look too much at my crochet so i can watch the world go by. LOL
Plus I crochet much faster than knitting.
